Abstract

There is provided a replaceable drywall saw blade capable of reciprocating in-line when mounted to a hand held reciprocating power saw. The blade includes a generally planar body member having a generally linear top edge and a generally parallel opposed bottom edge. The blade further includes a generally linear upper piercing edge angularly offset downwardly from the top edge. The blade additionally includes a generally linear lower piercing edge angularly offset upwardly from the bottom edge. The upper piercing edge and lower piercing edge intersect to form a forward point on said blade. A mounting aperture is also formed on the blade for releasably securing the blade to the hand held reciprocating power saw.

         20 . A blade for use with a reciprocating saw for cutting drywall, the drywall having a first drywall surface and an opposing second drywall surface defining a drywall thickness therebetween, the blade comprising:
 a body member having a first body edge and an opposing, second body edge;   a blade tip integral with the body member, the blade tip including a first piercing edge angularly offset from the first body edge, and a second piercing edge angularly offset from the second body edge, the blade tip being adapted to pierce at least one of the first and second drywall surfaces; and   an engagement element connected to the body member, the engagement element being sized and configured to be releasably engageable with the reciprocating saw;   wherein the blade tip defines a distal end of the blade and the engagement element defines the proximal end of the blade, the distal end and the proximal ends of the blade defining a length, the length being no greater than twice the drywall thickness.   
     
     
         21 . The blade of  claim 20  wherein the length is substantially equal to the drywall thickness. 
     
     
         22 . The blade of  claim 20  wherein the first piercing edge and the first body edge intersect to form an obtuse angle. 
     
     
         23 . The blade of  claim 20  wherein the second piercing edge and the second body edge intersect to form an obtuse angle. 
     
     
         24 . The blade of  claim 20  wherein at least one of the first body edge or second body edge includes at least one saw tooth. 
     
     
         25 . The blade of  claim 20  wherein at least one of the first body edge or second body edge include at least one indent. 
     
     
         26 . The blade of  claim 20  wherein the second body edge includes indents wherein such indents do not exceed fifty percent of the length. 
     
     
         27 . A blade for use with a reciprocating saw for cutting drywall, the drywall having a first drywall surface and an opposing second drywall surface defining a drywall thickness therebetween, the blade comprising:
 a body member having a first body edge and an opposing second body edge;   a blade tip member intergral with the body member; and   an engagement element integral with the body member, the engagement element being sized and configured to be releasably engageable with the reciprocating saw;   wherein the blade tip member defines the distal end of a cutting portion of the blade and the exposed portion of the engagement element when it is affixed to a reciprocating saw defines the proximal end of the cutting portion of the blade, said distal and proximal ends of the blade cutting portion defining a length; and   wherein the length is no more than twice the drywall thickness.   
     
     
         28 . The blade of  claim 24  wherein the length is substantially equal to the drywall thickness. 
     
     
         29 . The blade of  claim 24  wherein at least one of the first body edge or second body edge includes at least one saw tooth. 
     
     
         30 . The blade of  claim 24  wherein the second piercing edge and the second body edge intersect to form an obtuse angle. 
     
     
         31 . The blade of  claim 24  wherein at least one of the first body edge or second body edge includes at least one saw tooth. 
     
     
         32 . The blade of  claim 24  wherein at least one of the first body edge or second body edge include at least one indent. 
     
     
         33 . The blade of  claim 24  wherein the second body edge includes indents wherein such indents do not exceed fifty percent of the length. 
     
     
         34 . A blade for use with a reciprocating saw for cutting drywall, the drywall having a first drywall surface and an opposing second drywall surface defining a drywall thickness therebetween, the blade comprising:
 a body member having a first body edge and an opposing second body edge;   a blade tip member intergral with the body member; and   an engagement element integral with the body member, the engagement element being sized and configured to be releasably engageable with the reciprocating saw;   wherein the blade tip member defines the distal end of a cutting portion of the blade and the exposed portion of the engagement element when it is affixed to a reciprocating saw defines the proximal end of the cutting portion of the blade, said distal and proximal ends of the blade cutting portion defining a length; and   wherein the second body edge along the length of the cutting portion of the blade includes at least one edge indent, said at least one edge indent providing indentation along less than 50 percent of the length of the cutting portion of the blade.   
     
     
         35 . The blade of  claim 34  wherein cutting portion is no more than twice the drywall thickness. 
     
     
         36 . The blade of  claim 34  wherein cutting portion is substantially equal to the drywall thickness.
