Grill and Method of Use Thereof

Abstract

A grill comprising a front, a rear, a grill base, a grill lid and a grill door. The grill lid comprises an opening and is in hinged communication with the grill base. The grill door communicates with the grill lid via a hinge, which is disposed at a rear portion of the opening. When the grill door is closed, the grill door seals the opening in the grill lid. The grill lid includes a lifting-assist mechanism and the grill door has an opening-assist mechanism. A method of grilling comprising the steps of opening the grill lid, placing food on the grill base and closing the grill lid to cook food. The method further comprises the steps of opening the grill lid and the grill door during the cooking process, thereby creating a flue that urges smoke away from the front of the grill and towards the rear of the grill.

1 . A grill comprising:
 a front;   a rear;   a grill base;   a grill lid that is in hinged communication with said grill base, wherein said grill lid comprises an opening in the surface thereof, wherein said grill lid is positioned substantially above said grill base in an open disposition;   a grill door that is in hinged communication with said grill lid and covers said opening in said surface of said grill lid in a closed position; and   wherein when said grill door and said grill lid are in an open disposition, said grill lid is designed to receive and direct smoke towards said opening and said grill door is designed to allow the smoke to escape out of said opening of said grill lid.   
     
     
         2 . The grill of  claim 1 , wherein said opening is substantially disposed in a front portion of said grill lid, and wherein said opening is substantially disposed in a top portion of said grill lid. 
     
     
         3 . The grill of  claim 1 , further comprising a front panel and side panels, wherein said front panel and said side panels extend along a periphery of said opening. 
     
     
         4 . The grill of  claim 1 , wherein said grill lid is positioned substantially above said grill base in the open disposition by way of pivoting said grill lid to a first selected angle that is approximately in the range of 45 degree to 80 degree with respect to the grill base. 
     
     
         5 . The grill of  claim 1 , wherein said grill door comprises side edges, wherein vertical plates are disposed on said side edges of said grill door, and wherein said vertical plates guide smoke more directly away from the user. 
     
     
         6 . The grill of  claim 1 , further comprising an arcuately-shaped plate, wherein said arcuately-shaped plate is disposed at a front portion of said opening. 
     
     
         7 . The grill of  claim 6 , wherein said arcuately-shaped plate is disposed substantially above a top surface of said grill lid. 
     
     
         8 . The grill of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one grill door opening-assist mechanism that comprises at least one spring, at least one cable and at least one attachment flange, and wherein said at least one spring comprises a lower end and an upper end, and wherein said at least one cable comprises a first end and a second end, and wherein said lower end of said at least one spring is removably secured to an inner surface of said grill base, and wherein said upper end of said at least one spring is secured to said first end of said at least one cable, and wherein said at least one attachment flange comprises an aperture therein defined by a first side and a second side of said at least one attachment flange, and wherein said at least one cable enters said aperture from said first side and passes through said aperture, and wherein said second end of said at least one cable is secured by a cable securing member, and wherein said cable securing member is disposed proximate said second side. 
     
     
         9 . The grill of  claim 8 , wherein said grill lid comprises at least one gap, and wherein said at least one gap is dimensioned to permit said at least one attachment flange to pass freely therewithin and therethrough. 
     
     
         10 . The grill of  claim 9 , wherein said at least one grill lid lifting-assist mechanism comprises at least one flange member and at least one spring member, wherein said at least one spring member comprises a top end and a bottom end, and wherein said at least one flange member comprises an opening therein, and wherein said top end is secured in said opening, and wherein said bottom end is secured to a fitting disposed on an exterior portion of said grill base.

         12 . The grill of  claim 1 , further comprising baffles dimensioned to allow said grill lid to close fully over said grill base to facilitate in directing smoke through said opening.

The grill of  claim 1 , wherein said grill lid comprises side edges, and wherein said side edges comprise vertical plates, and wherein said opening comprises a front edge, and wherein said front edge comprises a front plate, and wherein said front plate is disposed on said front edge. 
     
     
         14 . The grill of  claim 1 , wherein a flue is created when said grill lid and said grill door are opened to a selected angle, and wherein said flue directs smoke towards said opening of said grill lid. 
     
     
         15 . The grill of  claim 14 , wherein said flue is created when said grill lid and said grill door are opened to a selected angle, and wherein said flue directs smoke away from said front of said grill.

         17 . A method of directing smoke in a grill comprising the steps of:
 providing a grill comprising a front, a rear, a grill base, a grill lid that is in hinged communication with said grill base, wherein said grill lid comprises an opening in the surface thereof, wherein said grill lid is positioned substantially above said grill base in an open disposition a grill door that is in hinged communication with said grill lid and covers said opening in said surface of said grill lid in a closed position;   positioning said grill lid substantially above said grill base in the open disposition such that said grill lid receives and directs smoke towards said opening;   opening said grill door in the open disposition to allow the smoke to escape out of said opening of said grill lid.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising the step of:
 opening said grill door at a selected angle, thereby releasing smoke from said grill and allowing a user to observe the cooking food.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising the steps of:
 opening said grill lid via a front handle; and   opening said grill door, thereby creating a flue, wherein said flue urges smoke away from said front of said grill.   
     
     
         20 . The grill of  claim 1 , wherein said grill lid is positioned substantially above said grill base in the open disposition by way of pivoting said grill lid to a first selected angle that is approximately in the range of 45 degree to 80 degree with respect to the grill base.
