Abstract

If a movie reproducing apparatus detects an error during reproduction of encoded movie data, based on management information that includes a recording position of an intra-picture coded picture included in the encoded movie data, the movie reproducing apparatus determines a position used when the error is recovered by searching for an intra-picture coded picture subsequent to a frame including data with the error as well as updates elapsed time information to be displayed based on a frame number of the searched intra-picture coded picture at the time the error is recovered.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A movie reproducing apparatus for reproducing encoded movie data that does not include time stamp information, the apparatus comprising:
a reproduction unit configured to reproduce the encoded movie data from a storage medium wherein the encoded movie data contains an intra-picture coded picture and an inter-coded picture; a decoding unit configured to decode data reproduced by the reproduction unit; a display unit configured to display a moving image of the movie data and elapsed time information of the moving image based on the movie data decoded by the decoding unit; wherein if an error of the movie data occurs while the reproduction unit is reproducing the movie data, the display unit, in response to a recovery of the error of the movie data, updates elapsed time information to be displayed based on information of an intra-picture coded picture of the movie data.

2 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the error of the movie data is a decode error of the movie data.

3 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising an error detector configured to detect the error of the movie data.

4 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the information of the intra-picture coded picture contains a frame number of the intra-picture coded picture.

5 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a searching unit configured to search the intra-picture coded picture.

6 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 5 , the searching unit searches the intra-picture coded picture based on management information of the movie data indicating a recording position of an intra-picture coded picture.

7 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 5 , wherein the searching unit changes a search interval during a search in such a manner that the search interval is increased according to a number of consecutive error times in a subsequent intra-picture coded data.

8 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 6 , the reproduction unit reproduces the management information of the movie data from the storage medium.

9 . A movie reproducing apparatus for reproducing encoded movie data that does not include time stamp information, the apparatus comprising:
a reproduction unit configured to reproduce the encoded movie data from a storage medium wherein the encoded movie data contains an intra-picture coded picture and an inter-picture coded picture; a decoding unit configured to decode the movie data reproduced by the reproduction unit; and a display unit, if an error of the movie data occurs while reproducing the movie data, configured to display displays error information that includes a period of a frame dropped caused by the error or a number of dropped frames caused by the error, in response to a recovery of the error of the movie data.

10 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the display unit displays the error information based on information of an intra-picture coded picture of the movie data.

11 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 9 , wherein the error of the movie data is a decode error of the movie data.

12 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 9 , further comprising an error detector configured to detect the error of the movie data.

13 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the information of the intra-picture coded picture contains a frame number of the intra-picture coded picture.

14 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 10 , further comprising a searching unit configured to search the intra-picture coded picture.

15 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 14 , wherein the searching unit searches the intra-picture coded picture based on management information of the movie data indicating a recording position of an intra-picture coded picture.

16 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 14 , wherein the searching unit changes a search interval during a search in such a manner that the search interval is increased according to a number of consecutive error times in a subsequent intra-picture coded data.

17 . The movie reproducing apparatus according to claim 15 , the reproduction unit reproduces the management information of the movie data from the storage medium.

18 . A movie reproducing method for reproducing encoded movie data that does not include time stamp information, the method comprising:
reproducing the encoded movie data from a storage medium wherein the encoded movie data contains an intra-picture coded picture and an inter-picture coded picture; decoding the movie data reproduced; and displaying a moving image of the movie data and elapsed time information of the moving image based on the movie data decoded; wherein if an error of the movie data occurs while the reproduction unit is reproducing the movie data, displaying, in response to a recovery of the error of the movie data, updates elapsed time information to be displayed based on information of an intra-picture coded picture of the movie data.

19 . A movie reproducing method for reproducing encoded movie data that does not include time stamp information, the method comprising:
