Method, system, and apparatus for blackjack insurance

Abstract

A system, method and apparatus for blackjack insurance may be shown. The method, system and apparatus allows players in a traditional blackjack game to buy insurance against the outcome of the dealer's cards having a value equal to 21. The bet may be placed after the dealer has been dealt the traditional two cards and revealed the top card. The bet may be placed regardless of the value of the dealer's top card.

1 . A method of insuring a card game, comprising:
 dealing two playing cards to at least one player and two playing cards to a dealer from at least one deck of cards, wherein each card in the at least one deck of cards is assigned a value;   revealing one of the dealer's cards;   offering an insurance bet to the at least one player that at the conclusion of the game a sum of the dealer's cards will equal a specific value;   accepting the insurance bet from the at least one player;   completing the game according to a set of predetermined rules by optionally dealing additional cards to the at least one player and dealer;   calculating a sum of the values of the dealer's cards;   paying the at least one player a payout if the sum of the dealer's cards at the completion of the game equals the specific value.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the specific value is 21. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the card game is blackjack. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the insurance bet is independent of any other bet the at least one player makes during the game. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the payout is different depending on a number of cards the dealer has at the completion of the game. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the payout is different depending on the number of decks of cards. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the insurance bet is not paid if at any time during the game a sum of the values of the at least one player's cards exceeds 21. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the insurance bet is offered regardless of the dealer card that is revealed. 
     
     
         9 . A casino game, comprising:
 at least one standard deck of cards wherein each card in the at least one standard deck of cards is assigned a value;   a game layout area, wherein the game layout area comprises:
 a standard bet area; 
 an insurance bet area; 
   wherein at least one player places a standard bet on said standard bet area;   wherein a dealer deals two cards to the at least one player and two cards to the dealer, and the dealer reveals one card at which time the at least one player optionally places an insurance bet in the insurance bet area, the insurance bet being that at a conclusion of the game a sum of the dealer's cards will equal a specific value;   wherein a conclusion of the game is reached according to a set of predetermined rules by optionally dealing additional cards to the at least one player and dealer;   wherein a sum of the values of the dealer's cards is calculated at the conclusion of the game, and if the sum is equal to the specific value, the at least one player will receive a payout if the at least one player placed the insurance bet.   
     
     
         10 . The casino game of  claim 9 , wherein the value of a card corresponds to one of:
 a number on the card;   a ten if the card is any of a jack, queen or king; and   either a one or eleven if the card is an ace.   
     
     
         11 . The casino game of  claim 9 , wherein the specific value is 21. 
     
     
         12 . The casino game of  claim 9 , wherein the insurance bet is independent of any other bet the at least one player makes during the game. 
     
     
         13 . The casino game of  claim 9 , wherein the payout is different depending on a number of cards the dealer has at the conclusion of the game. 
     
     
         14 . The casino game of  claim 9 , wherein the payout is different depending on a number of decks of cards used.
