Gardening glove having a cutting tool

Abstract

A gardening glove includes a cutting tool fixed to the distal end of the index finger. The cutting tool is a stainless steel blade projecting from the end of the index finger. The blade cuts flower stems by pinching the stem between the blade cutting edge and the end of the glove thumb.

1 . A gardening glove having a cutting tool comprising:
 a. a glove body for receiving a hand, said glove body comprising four finger inserts including an index finger insert, a palm portion, a back portion, a thumb insert and a wrist cuff, wherein said glove body provides full protective coverage of said hand;   b. a reinforced portion covering a distal phalanx of said index finger and said thumb; and,   c. a cutting blade attached to one of said reinforcement portion covering said distal phalanx of the index finger and the thumb.   
     
     
         2 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  further comprising an abrasive and puncture-resistant pad over said palm. 
     
     
         3 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  further comprising a substrate over said back for receiving a decorative image. 
     
     
         4 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  further comprising an elasticized cuff around said wrist forming a dirt-resistant compressive sealing. 
     
     
         5 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  wherein said cutting blade is attached to the index finger distal phalanx reinforcement portion between a bottom edge of the reinforcement portion and the distal tip of the reinforcement portion. 
     
     
         6 . The gardening glove of  claim 5  wherein the cutting blade is attached to the distal tip of the reinforcement portion. 
     
     
         7 . The gardening glove of  claim 6  wherein the cutting blade takes the form of a human index fingernail plate having a cutting edge. 
     
     
         8 . The gardening glove of  claim 5  wherein the cutting blade is attached midway between said bottom edge of the reinforcement portion and the distal tip so that it projects in a perpendicular manner from the reinforcement portion. 
     
     
         9 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  wherein said cutting blade is attached to the thumb distal phalanx reinforcement portion between a bottom edge of the reinforcement portion and the distal tip of the reinforcement portion. 
     
     
         10 . The gardening glove of  claim 9  wherein the cutting blade takes the form of a human thumb fingernail plate having a cutting edge. 
     
     
         11 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  wherein the gardening glove is one of a left hand glove and a right hand glove. 
     
     
         12 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  wherein the reinforcement portion is adhesively attached to the distal phalanx of the index finger and the thumb. 
     
     
         13 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  wherein the reinforcement portion is a rubberized portion for placement over the distal phalanx of the index finger and the thumb. 
     
     
         14 . The gardening glove of  claim 13  wherein said rubberized portion is molded around the cutting blade. 
     
     
         15 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  wherein the cutting blade is made from stainless steel. 
     
     
         16 . The gardening glove of  claim 1  wherein the cutting blade extends between ¼ inch and ½ inch beyond the distal end of the respective finger and thumb it is attached to. 
     
     
         17 . A method of making a gardening glove comprising: forming a glove body having a palm, a back, a cuff , four finger inserts including an index finger insert and a thumb insert; forming first flexible reinforced portion for placement over an index finger distal phalanx of an outer surface of said index finger insert; forming a second flexible reinforced portion for placement over a distal phalanx of an outer surface of said thumb insert; fixing a cutting blade to a distal end of one of said first and said second flexible reinforced portions; adhesively fixing the first flexible reinforced portion over the index finger distal phalanx of said outer surface of the index finger insert; and, adhesively fixing the second flexible reinforced portion over the outer surface of the thumb distal phalanx. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17  further comprising fixing an abrasion and puncture resistant cover to said palm. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17  further comprising fixing a substrate to said back for receiving an artistic design. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 17  further comprising elasticizing said cuff for form a dirt-resistant seal.
