Abstract

Systems and method of identifying shipping anomalies are provided. One anomaly detection module is configured to access data related to items in a delivery environment and determine the occurrence of anomalies based on the accessed data. The detected anomalies are evaluated with other accessed data to identify source, destination or routing errors and to correct same.

1 . A system for identifying a source of a misrouted item, the system comprising:
 an item comprising:
 a first destination delivery code located at a first location on the item; and 
 a second destination delivery code located at a second location on the item; 
   a distribution environment comprising:
 an initial processing system configured to collect destination location data for the item; 
 an interim location configured to collect destination location data for the item; and 
 a destination processing station configured to collect destination location data for the item; 
   a data storage medium, wherein the data storage medium is configured to store destination location data for the item from the initial processing system, the interim location, and the destination processing station; and   an anomaly detection module configured to analyze destination location data to determine if an item is misrouted.
