Abstract

In general, the present disclosure is directed to techniques for displaying, e.g., events of multiple calendars or annotations in a word processor in a single view. In one example, a method includes, providing a first calendar and a second calendar, wherein the first calendar includes a first group of calendar events at least some of which have corresponding textual event details, and wherein the second calendar includes a second group of calendar events at least some of which have corresponding textual event details; receiving a user input to select one of the first calendar or the second calendar; displaying the one or more corresponding textual event details of the first group of calendar events for the first calendar; and displaying visual representations of the second group of calendar events for the second calendar without displaying the corresponding textual event details.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user input to select the first calendar comprises user input to select the first event.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user input comprises a first user input, the method further comprising:
in response to receiving a second user input to select the first calendar, changing, by the computing device, the display of the visual representation of the first event to the first event displayed with the first textual event details.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second user input to select the first calendar comprises user input to select the first event.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user input comprises a first user input, the method further comprising:
in response to receiving a second user input to select the second calendar, changing, by the computing device, the display of the visual representation of the second event to the second event displayed with the second textual event details.

6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the user input comprises a first user input, the method further comprising:
in response to receiving a third user input to select the second calendar, changing, by the computing device, the display of the second event to a visual representation of the second event that is displayed without the second textual event details.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein changing the display of the first event with first textual event details to a visual representation of the first event displayed without the first textual event details further comprises:
changing, by the computing device, the display of a plurality of the first group of calendar events to a plurality of visual representations of the plurality of the first group of calendar events, wherein each of the plurality of visual representations is displayed without corresponding textual event details.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the user input comprises a first user input, the method further comprising:
in response to receiving a second user input to select the first calendar, changing, by the computing device, the display of each of the plurality of visual representations displayed without corresponding textual event details to the plurality of the first group of calendar events, wherein each of the plurality of the first group of calendar events is displayed with corresponding textual event details.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user input to select the first calendar comprises user input to select a control in a control panel displayed by the computing device.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user input is a first user input, the method further comprising:
receiving, at the computing device, a second user input to select the control in the control panel of the calendar application; and in response to receiving the second user input, displaying, by the computing device, the first calendar comprising the first group of calendar events, wherein the first event of the first group of calendar events is displayed with the first textual event details.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first textual event details and the second textual event details includes information that represents one or more persons or resources, a time, a date, a location, or any combination thereof.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first group of calendar events is identified by a first unique visual property and the second group of calendar events is identified by a second unique visual property.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein at least one of the first unique visual property and the second unique visual property comprises at least one of a different color or shading.

14 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
displaying, by a computing device, a third calendar comprising a third group of calendar events, wherein a third event of the third group of calendar events is associated with third textual event details; receiving, by the computing device, a user input to select the third calendar; and
in response to receiving the user input, changing the display of the third event with third textual event details to a visual representation of the third event, wherein the visual representation of the third event is displayed without the third textual event details.

15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions that, when executed, cause one or more processors of a computing device to perform operations comprising:
displaying, by the computing device, a first calendar comprising a first group of calendar events, wherein a first event of the first group of calendar events is associated with first textual event details; displaying, by the computing device, a second calendar comprising a second group of calendar events, wherein a second event of the second group of calendar events is associated with second textual event details; receiving, by the computing device, a user input to select the first calendar; in response to receiving the user input, changing, by the computing device, the display of the first event with the first textual event details to a visual representation of the first event, wherein the visual representation of the first event is displayed without the first textual event details; and maintaining for display, by the computing device, the second event with the second textual event details.

16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , further encoded with instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors of the computing device to perform operations comprising:
wherein the user input comprises a first user input, and in response to receiving a second user input to select the first calendar, changing, by the computing device, the display of the visual representation of the first event to the first event displayed with the first textual event details.
