Interactivity for Printed Content

Abstract

A method for providing interactivity for printed content is disclosed. An image of a writing surface containing the printed content is captured by an optical imaging pen device. The image includes a pattern printed on the writing surface. A plurality of available options associated with the printed content coincident with the pattern in the image is then determined and a selection from a user of one of the plurality of available options is received. An application is executed, with the execution using the selected option.

1 . A method for providing interactivity for printed content, the method comprising the steps of:
 capturing by an optical imaging pen device an image of a writing surface containing the printed content, the image including a pattern printed on the writing surface;   determining a plurality of available options associated with the printed content coincident with the pattern in the image;   receiving a selection from a user of one of the plurality of available options; and   executing an application using the option.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the application uses a location of the optical imaging pen device on the writing surface. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein execution of the application includes output of audio based upon a location of the optical imaging pen device on the writing surface. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the optical imaging pen device has a unique pen identity and the selection from the user is based on a predetermined user preference associated with the unique pen identity.
