Bed cover system

Abstract

Disclosed is a bed sheet and blanket system and method including a fitted foundation and a selectively detachable connecting sheet or blanket. Embodiments of the invention include a second connecting sheet or blanket disposed above or on top of the first connecting sheet or blanket. The fitted foundation, the first connecting sheet or blanket, and the second connecting sheet or blanket may be connected through interconnecting components such as zippers.

1 . A bed cover system comprising:
 a fitted foundation adapted for fitted engagement with a mattress, the fitted foundation including:   a substantially rectangular sleeping surface having a perimeter, the perimeter having a pair of lateral sides, a top side, and a bottom side; and   a first interconnecting component disposed along at least a portion of the perimeter of the sleeping surface; and   a first connecting cover having a substantially rectangular shape and a perimeter, the perimeter having a pair of lateral sides, a top side and a bottom side, the first connecting cover including:   a second interconnecting component disposed along a portion of the perimeter of the first connecting cover and adapted for selective detachable interconnection to the first interconnecting component.   
     
     
         2 . The bed cover system of  claim 1 , wherein the first interconnecting component is disposed along the bottom side and a portion of each lateral side of the perimeter of the sleeping surface and the second interconnecting component is disposed along the bottom side and each lateral side of the first connecting cover. 
     
     
         3 . The bed cover system of  claim 2 , further comprising:
 a third interconnecting component disposed along a portion of the perimeter of the first connecting cover, the third interconnecting component including a first portion disposed along a first lateral side of the perimeter of the first connecting cover and a second portion disposed along a second lateral side of the perimeter of the first connecting cover; and   a second connecting cover having a substantially rectangular shape and a perimeter, the perimeter having a pair of lateral sides, a top side and a bottom side, the second connecting cover including:   a fourth interconnecting component disposed along a portion of the perimeter of the second connecting cover, the fourth interconnecting component including a first portion disposed along a first lateral side of the perimeter of the second connecting cover, and a second portion disposed along a second lateral side of the perimeter of the second connecting cover;   wherein the bottom side of the first connecting cover is fixedly connected to the bottom side of the second connecting cover, the first portion of the fourth interconnecting component is adapted for selective detachable interconnection with the first portion of the third interconnecting component, and the second portion of the fourth interconnecting component is adapted for selective detachable interconnection with the second portion of the third interconnecting component.   
     
     
         4 . The bed cover system of  claim 2 , further comprising:
 a third interconnecting component disposed along the bottom side and each lateral side of the first connecting cover; and   a second connecting cover having a substantially rectangular shape and a perimeter, the perimeter having a pair of lateral sides, a top side and a bottom side, the second connecting cover including:   a fourth interconnecting component disposed along the bottom side and each lateral side of the second connecting cover;   wherein the fourth interconnecting component is adapted for selective detachable interconnection with the third interconnecting component to provide a detachable attachment between the second connecting cover and the first connecting cover.   
     
     
         5 . The bed cover system of  claim 1 , wherein the first interconnecting component is disposed along the complete perimeter of the sleeping surface and the second interconnecting component is disposed along the complete perimeter the first connecting cover, and wherein the bed cover system further comprises:
 a third interconnecting component disposed along the bottom side and a portion of each lateral side of the perimeter of the first connecting cover; and   a second connecting cover having a substantially rectangular shape and a perimeter, the perimeter having a pair of lateral sides, a top side and a bottom side, the second connecting cover including:   a fourth interconnecting component disposed along the bottom side and each lateral side of the second connecting cover;   wherein the fourth interconnecting component is adapted for selective detachable interconnection with the third interconnecting component to provide a detachable attachment between the second connecting cover and the first connecting cover.   
     
     
         6 . The bed cover system of  claim 1 , wherein the first interconnecting component is disposed along the complete perimeter of the sleeping surface and the second interconnecting component is disposed along the complete perimeter the first connecting cover, and wherein the bed cover system further comprises:
 a third interconnecting component disposed along the bottom side and a portion of each lateral side of the perimeter of the fitted foundation; and   a second connecting cover having a substantially rectangular shape and a perimeter, the perimeter having a pair of lateral sides, a top side and a bottom side, the second connecting cover including:   a fourth interconnecting component disposed along the bottom side and each lateral side of the second connecting cover;   wherein the fourth interconnecting component is adapted for selective detachable interconnection with the third interconnecting component to provide a detachable attachment between the second connecting cover and the fitted foundation.   
     
     
         7 . The bed cover system of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second interconnecting components include at least one of:
 a zipper;   a plurality of snaps;   a plurality of buttons; and   a velcro connection.   
     
     
         8 . The bed cover system of  claim 4 , wherein a surface of the second connecting cover includes a decorative pattern. 
     
     
         9 . The bed cover system of  claim 1 , wherein the fitted foundation is adapted to be fit on at least one of:
 a single mattress;   a twin mattress;   a double mattress;   a queen mattress;   a king mattress; and   a bunk bed mattress.   
     
     
         10 . The bed cover system of  claim 1 , wherein the fitted foundation, the first connecting cover, and the second connecting cover include at least one of:
 cotton;   flannel;   polyester;   jersey; and   silk.   
     
     
         11 . A method of using a bed cover arrangement, comprising:
 placing a fitted foundation on a mattress, the fitted foundation including a first attachment component; and   interconnecting a first connecting cover to the fitted foundation, the connecting cover including a second attachment component;   wherein the fitted foundation and the connecting cover are interconnected through an engagement of the first attachment component with the second attachment component to form a pocket.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 using the bed, including at least partially disconnecting the first connecting cover from the fitted foundation to allow a person to enter or exit a sleeping space disposed therebetween.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , further comprising:
 detaching the first connecting cover from the fitted foundation;   washing the connecting cover; and   interconnecting the first connecting cover to the fitted foundation.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein:
 the first connecting cover is adapted for selective detachable interconnection with a second connecting cover and wherein the step of interconnecting includes engaging a third attachment component associated with the first connecting cover with a fourth attachment component associated with the second connecting cover.   
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein a portion of the first connecting cover is connected to a portion of the second connecting cover. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the third attachment component and the fourth attachment component provide a detachable attachment between the first connecting cover and the second connecting cover. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the second connecting cover includes a decorative pattern. 
     
     
         18 . A bed cover system, comprising:
 means for providing a sleeping surface having a portion adapted for fitted engagement with a mattress;   first means for covering a person when the person is engaged with the sleeping surface; and   means for interconnection the means for providing and the first means for covering;   wherein the means for covering is detachable attachable to the means for covering.   
     
     
         19 . The bed cover system of  claim 18 , further comprising:
 second means for covering a person when the person is engaged with the sleeping surface, the second means for covering being connected to the first means for covering.   
     
     
         20 . The bed cover system of  claim 18 , further comprising:
 second means for covering a person when the person is engaged with the sleeping surface, the second means for covering being detachable attachable to the first means for covering.
