Abstract

A package custody management system is disclosed that enables building personnel to manage inbound receipt, custody tracking, and occupant receipt of package deliveries for occupants in a building. The system includes one or more processors capable of receiving, from an individual responsible for performing a function related to ensuring proper custody of packages delivered at the building for occupants of the building, package delivery information regarding delivery of a package to the building for an occupant of the building. The processors are further capable of receiving an indication that the occupant or a person acting on behalf of the occupant has received the package, and responsive to receiving the indication, storing occupant receipt data in a database.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A package custody management system that enables building personnel to manage inbound receipt, custody tracking, and occupant receipt of package deliveries for occupants in a building, the system comprising:
 one or more memories storing instructions; and one or more processors capable of executing the instructions to perform:
 receiving, from an individual responsible for performing a function related to ensuring proper custody of packages delivered at the building for occupants of the building, package delivery information regarding delivery of a package to the building for an occupant of the building;
 generating notification data used to inform the occupant that the package has been delivered to the building;
 receiving an indication that the occupant or a person acting on behalf of the occupant has received the package; and
 responsive to receiving the indication, storing occupant receipt data in a database, the occupant receipt data including a date and a time the package was received by the occupant or the person acting on behalf of the occupant and information identifying who received the package.

         2 . The package custody management system according to claim 1 , the one or more processors further capable of executing the instructions to perform:
 displaying the notification data on a monitor in a public area of the building.

         3 . The package custody management system according to claim 2 , wherein the public area is a lobby or elevator of the building.

         4 . The package custody management system according to claim 1 , the one or more processors further capable of executing the instructions to perform:
 sending the notification data to the occupant.

         5 . The package custody management system according to claim 4 , wherein sending the notification data to the occupant includes sending the notification data via one or more of an e-mail message, a pager message, a telephone message, a voicemail message, and facsimile message.

         6 . The package custody management system according to claim 1 , wherein the notification data is sent responsive to receiving a request for the notification data from a computing device associated with the occupant.

         7 . The package custody management system according to claim 1 , wherein the package delivery information includes one or more of recipient identification information, sender identification information, recipient unit number, description of delivery type, or tracking information.

         8 . The package custody management system according to claim 1 , wherein the package delivered to the building includes delivery of a product or service.

         9 . The package custody management system according to claim 1 , wherein the package delivered to the building includes at least one of laundry delivery or overnight package delivery.

         10 . The package custody management system according to claim 1 , the one or more processors further capable of executing the instructions to perform:
 receiving, from the occupant of the building, instructions indicating a manner in which to inform the occupant that the package has been delivered to the building; and informing the occupant of the building that the package has been delivered to the building in accordance with the instructions received from the occupant of the building.

         11 . A package custody management method that enables building personnel to manage inbound receipt, custody tracking, and occupant receipt of package deliveries for occupants in a building, the method comprising:
 receiving, from an individual responsible for performing a function related to ensuring proper custody of packages delivered at the building for occupants of the building, package delivery information regarding delivery of a package to the building for an occupant of the building; generating notification data used to inform the occupant that the package has been delivered to the building; receiving an indication that the occupant or a person acting on behalf of the occupant has received the package; and responsive to receiving the indication, storing occupant receipt data in a database, the occupant receipt data including a date and a time the package was received by the occupant or the person acting on behalf of the occupant and information identifying who received the package.

         12 . The package custody management method according to claim 11 , further comprising:
 displaying the notification data on a monitor in a public area of the building.

         13 . The package custody management method according to claim 12 , wherein the public area is a lobby or elevator of the building.

         14 . The package custody management method according to claim 11 , further comprising:
 sending the notification data to the occupant.

         15 . The package custody management method according to claim 14 , wherein sending the notification data to the occupant includes sending the notification data via one or more of an e-mail message, a pager message, a telephone message, a voicemail message, and facsimile message.

         16 . The package custody management method according to claim 11 , wherein the notification data is sent responsive to receiving a request for the notification data from a computing device associated with the occupant.

         17 . The package custody management method according to claim 11 , wherein the package delivery information includes one or more of recipient identification information, sender identification information, recipient unit number, description of delivery type, or tracking information.
