Abstract

An improved track device includes rail tubes and rail tube supports forming tracks separated by cross members and joined at ferrules in embodiments having offset ferrules and embodiments having staggered ferrule joints.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for quietly moving a dolly comprising the steps of:
providing plural track sections with generally opposed section ends; incorporating in each section a pair of rails, each rail having generally opposed ends corresponding with the section ends; providing each rail with an eccentric support member; coupling rail pair support members with plural cross members, each cross member having opposed ends rotatably coupled with support members; providing each rail end with a ferrule such that each section end includes a male ferrule and a female ferrule; providing for interengaging sections via first and second male-female ferrule joints; providing a plurality of fasteners for fastening sections together; extending a saddle beyond a female ferrule at each section end, the saddle adapted to support a rail of an interengaging track section; and, quieting dolly movement by offsetting ferrules at section ends such that ferrule joints are staggered when the track sections are in use.

2 . A method of providing a smooth, low noise dolly movement comprising the steps of:
providing first and second track sections, each section including a pair of rails; providing for each rail a respective support member including a hollow part and opposed flanges; eccentrically supporting each rail with the hollow part such that hollow parts corresponding to a rail pair have facing inside surfaces; spacing the support members apart with a plurality of cross members, each cross member having opposed ends and each end rotatably coupled between the opposed flanges of one of the rail support members; providing a male ferrule at one end of each rail and a female ferrule at the opposite end of each rail, rail ends at a track section end having one male ferrule and one female ferrule; providing adjacent to each ferrule a latch or a latch plate fixed to an inside surface of a hollow part; mating the male and female ferrules at one end of the first track section with the female and male ferrules at one end of the second track section; drawing the mated ferrules together by interengaging the latches and corresponding latch plates; and, limiting dolly noise by selecting a rail material and a mating dolly wheel material that produce a lubricious wear byproduct during use.

3 . The method of claim 2 further comprising the step of limiting dolly noise by extending a saddle beyond a female ferrule at each section end and adapting the saddle to support a rail of an interengaging track section; and,

4 . The method of claim 3 further comprising the step of quieting dolly movement by offsetting ferrules at section ends such that ferrule joints are staggered when the track sections are in use.
