Abstract

A tackling machine capable of moving a 50-80 lb. tackling dummy down an overhead track to a junction point where the dummy will turn left, right, or continue straight forward. The operator of the machine controls the junction box with a lever to determine which way the dummy will turn, or go straight.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A football tackling machine comprising a supporting framework, an initial track, a direction selection means, a right track, a left track, and a straight track, a selection device which allows selection of the right track, the left track, or the straight track, a tackling dummy able to move along the tracks, suspended from the tracks, a spring capable of causing the dummy to move, and a latch which allows the dummy to be released.

2 . A football tackling machine, according to claim 1 in which the framework is steel tubing.

3 . A football tackling machine according to claim 1 in which the framework is steel I-beams.

4 . A football tackling machine according to claim 1 in which the initial track is 6-10 feet long.

5 . A football tackling machine according to claim 4 in which the initial track is 8 feet long.

6 . A football tackling machine according to claim 4 in which the left track is 3-8 feet long.

7 . A football tackling machine according to claim 6 in which the left track is 5 feet long.

8 . A football tackling machine according to claim 4 in which the straight track is 3-8 feet long.

9 . A football tackling machine according to claim 8 in which the straight track is 4 feet long.

10 . A football tackling machine according to claim 4 in which the right track is 3-8 feet long.

11 . A football tackling machine according to claim 10 in which the right track is 5 feet long.

12 . A football tackling machine according to claim 1 in which the spring comprises a compression spring.

13 . A football tackling machine according to claim 1 in which the spring comprises two torsion springs.
