Using payment mode rankings responsive to item attributes

Abstract

A method and system are described for obtaining at least a first mode ranking and a second mode ranking responsive to one or more categorical attributes of a first item and to one or more payment mode use constraints and transmitting at least an indication of a first payment mode responsive to at least the first mode ranking or the second mode ranking.

         96 . A method performed with a computing system that includes at least one processing device, the method comprising:
 transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode;   receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode; and;   wherein at least one of the transmitting the common image and receiving the user input is performed, at least in part, with the processing device.   
     
     
         97 . The method of  claim 96 , wherein transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode comprises:
 transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode, wherein the first payment mode and the second payment mode are different payment modes.   
     
     
         98 . The method of  claim 96 , wherein the transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode comprises:
 transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode, the common image being transmitted to a hand-held device for display of the common image on the hand-held device.   
     
     
         99 . The method of  claim 96 , wherein the transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode comprises:
 transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode for display in a first row and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode for display in a second row.

         106 . The method of  claim 96 , wherein receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode comprises:
 receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode; and   responsive to the received user input, transmitting a confirmation window image for confirmation of authorization for, at least, payment of the first item by the first payment mode or of the second item by the second payment mode.   
     
     
         107 . The method of  claim 96 , wherein receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode comprises:
 modifying the common image responsive to the user input indicating an authorization for, at least, payment of the first item by the first payment mode.   
     
     
         108 . The method of  claim 96 , wherein receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode comprises:
 receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode; and   responsive to the received user input, immediately authorizing, at least, payment of the first item by the first payment mode or of the second item by the second payment mode.   
     
     
         109 . The method of  claim 96 , wherein receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode comprises:
 generating a report responsive to the user input.

 receiving as the user input an update of at least one of the first payment mode or a first payee.

 receiving a heterogeneous payment authorization as the user input.

The method of  claim 96 , wherein the transmitting a common image including, at least, a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode and the receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode comprise:
 associating, at least in part with a processing device, a common control with, at least, a payment indication of a first item by the first payment mode and with a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode;   transmitting a common image including, at least, the common control, the first item, the second item, the first payment mode, and the second payment mode; and   detecting a user actuation of the common control as received user input.   
     
     
         114 . The method of  claim 113 , wherein the at least in part with a processing device, associating a common control with, at least, a payment indication of a first item by the first payment mode and with a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode comprises:
 at least in part with a processing device, associating a common control with, at least, a payment indication of a first item to a first payee by the first payment mode and with a payment indication of a second item to a second payee by a second payment mode.

The method of  claim 113 , wherein the at least in part with a processing device, associating a common control with, at least, a payment indication of a first item by the first payment mode and with a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode and the transmitting a common image including, at least, the common control, the first item, the second item, the first payment mode, and the second payment mode comprise:
 transmitting a common image that includes a first common control, a second common control, a payment indication of a first item, a payment indication of a second item, a first payment mode, and a second payment mode;   wherein the first common control relates at least the payment indications of the first item and the second item to the first payment mode, and   wherein the second common control relates at least the payment indications of the first item and the second item to the second payment mode.   
     
     
         116 . A computing system that includes a processing device, the computing system comprising:
 means for transmitting a common image that includes at least a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode;   means for receiving a user input that relates to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode.   
     
     
         117 . The computing system of  claim 116 , wherein the means for transmitting a common image that includes at least a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode comprises:

 means for transmitting a common image that includes at least a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode, the means for transmitting to transmit the common image to a hand-held device for display of the common image on the hand-held device.   
     
     
         119 . The computing system of  claim 116 , wherein the means for transmitting a common image that includes at least a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode comprises:
 means for transmitting a common image that includes at least a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode for display in a first row and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode for display in a second row.   
     
     
         120 . The computing system of  claim 116 , wherein the means for transmitting a common image that includes at least a payment indication of a first item by a first payment mode and a payment indication of a second item by a second payment mode comprises:
 means for transmitting a first portion of the common image for display; and   means for transmitting a second portion of the common image for display in lieu of displaying the first portion of the common image.

 means for receiving a user input relating to one or more of the payment indication of the first item by the first payment mode or the payment indication of the second item by the second payment mode; and   means for transmitting, responsive to the means for receiving a user input, a confirmation window image for confirmation of authorization for, at least, payment of the first item by the first payment mode or of the second item by the second payment mode.
