Abstract

A system and method are provided for implementing a web server on a mobile station. A first mobile station may include a database of information. A network address for the first mobile station may be transmitted to a second mobile station to enable the second mobile station to communicate with the first mobile station directly over a wireless network. The second mobile station may then be provided access to the database of information by communicating directly over the wireless network with the first mobile station, wherein the first mobile station operates as the wireless server for the second mobile station.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method performed by a mobile station, the method comprising:
operating, on the mobile station, a web server accessible by one or more wireless clients via a wireless network, the web server accessible at a first temporary network address associated with the wireless network; and communicating the first temporary network address to the one or more wireless clients via a messaging service.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the messaging service is an electronic messaging (email) service.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the messaging service is a short message service (SMS) service point.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said communicating includes sending a message via the messaging service, the message sent to a messaging address associated with the one or more wireless clients.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the messaging service is part of the wireless network.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
maintaining a registration database that includes a list of wireless clients including said one or more wireless client that are allowed to access the web server, the registration database including contact information for the wireless clients in the list.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a new temporary network address associated with the wireless network; and in response to receiving the new temporary network address, transmitting the new temporary network address to the one or more wireless clients via the messaging service.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the new temporary network address replaces the first temporary network address.

         9 . A mobile station comprising:
a web server module configured to provide a web server accessible by one or more wireless clients via a wireless network, the web server accessible at a first temporary network address associated with the wireless network; and a communication subsystem configured to communicate the first temporary network address to the one or more wireless clients via a messaging service.

10 . The mobile station of claim 9 , wherein the messaging service is an electronic messaging (email) service.

11 . The mobile station of claim 9 , wherein the messaging service is a short message service (SMS) service point.

12 . The mobile station of claim 9 , wherein the communication subsystem is configured to communicate the first temporary network address by sending a message via the messaging service, the message sent to a messaging address associated with the one or more wireless clients.

13 . The mobile station of claim 9 , wherein the messaging service is part of the wireless network.

14 . The mobile station of claim 9 , further comprising:
a network address monitoring agent configured to maintain a registration database that includes a list of wireless clients including said one or more wireless clients that are allowed to access the web server, the registration database including contact information for the wireless clients on the list.

15 . The mobile station of claim 14 , wherein the network address monitoring agent is further configured to receive a new temporary network address associated with the wireless network, and in response to receiving the new temporary network address, transmit the new temporary network address to the one or more wireless clients via the messaging service.

16 . Computer readable media comprising instructions which when executed by a processor of a mobile station cause the mobile station to:
operate a web server accessible by one or more wireless clients via a wireless network, the web server accessible at a first temporary network address associated with the wireless network; and communicate the first temporary network address to the one or more wireless clients via a messaging service.

17 . The computer readable media of claim 16 , wherein the messaging service is an electronic messaging (email) service.

18 . The computer readable media of claim 16 , wherein the messaging service is a short message service (SMS) service point.

19 . The computer readable media of claim 16 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor of the mobile station, cause the mobile station to communicate the first temporary network address by sending a message via the messaging service, the message sent to a messaging address associated with the one or more wireless clients.

20 . The computer readable media of claim 16 , wherein the messaging service is part of the wireless network.
