Abstract

Disclosed is a product suspension packaging system that include a suspension pad with a notch on the top and bottom edges, and a binding received around the suspension pad and the product through the notches on the top and bottom edges to fixedly secure the product to the suspension pad to substantially prevent movement of the product relative to the suspension pad, where the product is secured within the perimeter of the suspension pad including the notches on the top and bottom edges. A method of suspending the product in the suspension packaging system is also disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A suspension packaging system for securing a product, the system comprising:
a suspension pad comprising a front side, a rear side, a top edge, a bottom edge, a left edge and a right edge; a first notch on said bottom edge of said suspension pad; a second notch on said top edge of said suspension pad; and a binding received in said first and second notches and around said suspension pad constructed and arranged to fixedly secure the product to said suspension pad to substantially prevent movement of the product relative to said suspension pad; wherein the product is secured within the perimeter of the suspension pad including said first and second notches.

2 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a first tab bent in a direction from the rear face sheet toward the front face sheet thereby forming said first notch, wherein said first tab contacts the product when the product is secured to said suspension pad.

3 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a third notch on said left edge of said suspension pad; a fourth notch on said right edge of said suspension pad; wherein said binding is received in said third and fourth notches.

4 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , further comprising
a shipping container configured to hold said suspension pad with the product secured to said suspension pad with said binding, wherein said product is suspended away from said shipping container.

5 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , wherein said first notch and said second notch are configured to be in close proximity to the product when the product is secured to said suspension pad.

6 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a first and second suspension pad extension panel at said right and left side edges of said suspension pad.

7 . The suspension packaging system of claim 6 , further comprising:
a shipping container configured to hold said suspension pad and the product secured to said suspension pad by said binding wherein said first and second suspension pad extension panels fit within said shipping container to secure said suspension pad from moving in a forward or backward direction with respect to said shipping container and wherein said product is suspended away from said shipping container.

8 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , wherein said binding is continuously wrapped around said first notch and around the front of said product and around said second notch and around the rear side of said suspension pad and over-wraps itself.

9 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , wherein said suspension pad bends to increase the contact area between the product and the suspension pad when the package is secured to said suspension pad by said binding.

10 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , wherein said binding over-wraps and is attached to itself but does is not attached to either the product or said suspension pad.

11 . The suspension packaging system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a third notch on said bottom edge of said suspension pad; a fourth notch on said top edge of said suspension pad; wherein said binding is continuously wrapped around said product and the rear side of said suspension pad through said first, second, third and fourth notches.

12 . A method for packaging a product comprising the steps of:
 a) providing a suspension pad comprising a front side, a rear side, a top edge, a bottom edge, a left edge, a right edge, a first notch on the bottom edge and a second notch on the top edge, wherein the perimeter of the suspension pad is larger than the perimeter of the product; b) providing a binding; and c) suspending the product on the front side of the suspension pad by securing the binding around the suspension pad and the product through the first and second notches such that the binding covers at least a portion of the product and the suspension pad.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the first notch and the second notch are configured to be in close proximity to the product when the product is suspended from the suspension pad by the binding.

14 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising bending the suspension pad bends to conform the suspension pad to the product increase the contact area between the product and the suspension pad when the binding is received around the product and the suspension pad.

15 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising the steps of:
 d) providing a shipping container comprising a top wall, a bottom wall, a left wall, a right wall, a front wall and a back wall; and e) securing the suspension pad within and with respect to the shipping container such that the product is suspended away from the top wall, the bottom wall, the left wall, the right wall, the front wall and the back wall of the shipping container.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the suspension pad is secured from movement toward the front side or rear side of the shipping container by first and second suspension pad extension panels.

17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the product is spaced away from the front wall at least in part by first and second suspension pad extension panels.
