Abstract

A punctal plug for insertion through a punctal aperture of an eye. The punctal plug includes a stem configured to be inserted into the punctal aperture and along a canaliculus of the eye, a stopper connected to one end of the stem, the stopper configured to seat against the punctal aperture, and a topical prostaglandin. The stem and the stopper are made from a porous or absorbent material, and wherein the material is saturated with the topical prostaglandin.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A punctal plug for insertion through a punctal aperture of an eye, the punctal plug comprising:
a stem configured to be inserted into the punctal aperture and along a canaliculus of the eye; a stopper connected to one end of the stem, the stopper configured to seat against the punctal aperture; and a topical prostaglandin, wherein the stem and the stopper are made from a porous or absorbent material, and wherein the material is saturated with the topical prostaglandin.

2 . The punctal plug of claim 1 , wherein the topical prostaglandin is latanoprost.

3 . The punctal plug of claim 1 , wherein the topical prostaglandin is travaprost.

4 . The punctal plug of claim 1 , wherein the topical prostaglandin is bimatoprost.

5 . A punctal plug for insertion through a punctal aperture of an eye, the punctal plug comprising:
a stem configured to be inserted into the punctal aperture and along a canaliculus of the eye; a flared end connected to the stem at one end thereof, the flared end configured to sit at the punctal aperture; an inner stopper connected to the stem at an opposite end from the flared end, the inner stopper configured to set a location of the punctal plug in the canaliculus after the punctal plug has been inserted through the punctal aperture; and a topical prostaglandin, wherein the stem, the flared end, and the inner stopper are made from a porous or absorbent material, and wherein the material is saturated with the topical prostaglandin.

6 . The punctal plug of claim 5 , wherein the topical prostaglandin is latanoprost.

7 . The punctal plug of claim 5 , wherein the topical prostaglandin is travaprost.

8 . The punctal plug of claim 5 , wherein the topical prostaglandin is bimatoprost.
