Abstract

An e-commerce system for wear apparel on a global computer network, has a fit system that has an apparel designer interface function for an apparel designer to provide apparel data in an apparel data form and a retail apparel merchant interface function to search and select apparel for retail on the merchant website and an embed function in the apparel data form that transfers the apparel data from the apparel data form and embeds it in the web page. The fit system minimizes the resources a retail merchant would require to make available wear apparel for sale on a retail merchant website.

1 . An e-commerce system for wear apparel on a global computer network, comprising:
 a) a fit system on a global computer network has an interface function for an apparel designer to transfer and store in a fit server database, for apparel designed by the designer, apparel data via an apparel data form in the fit system;   b) the fit system also has an interface function to a retail apparel merchant to search for the various apparel therein by designer, brand, gender and apparel id, and have displayed via the apparel data form;   c) the merchant interface function enables (i) selection of an apparel which the merchant desires to sell on his/her web page and (ii) enter in the apparel data form, in the additional data fields of merchant identification and the identification of a merchant web page in the merchant server in which the apparel is to be displayed to the customer;   d) an embed function in the apparel data form, when activated by the merchant, transfers the apparel data from the apparel data form and embeds it in the web page under a link try-it-on next to the display of the apparel, wherein the fit system minimizes the resources a retail merchant would require to make available wear apparel for sale on a retail merchant website.   
     
     
         2 . The e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 1 , comprising:
 a) a fit server program operative in the fit server on the global computer network;   b) the fit server program provides a designer interface function that enables an apparel designer to display, enter and save apparel data in an apparel data form.   
     
     
         3 . The e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 2 , further comprising:
 the apparel data form has data that capture details of an apparel with fields of (i) brand name, (ii) gender, (iii) description to include number of sizes, colors, and fabric (iv) graphical illustrations of the apparel, (v) dimensions for each size that are relevant for fit on a customer, wherein the fields together enable an online a customer to simulate the fit of an article on the customer to enable a purchase decision.   
     
     
         4 . The e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 3 , further comprising:
 for each dimension of each size, additionally also include a fit range that enables identification of the apparel for the type of fit intended by the designer.   
     
     
         5 . The e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 3 , further comprising:
 each dimension of each size is coded as either a length dimension or a girth dimension.   
     
     
         6 . The e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 1 , comprising:
 a fit server program operative in the fit server on the global computer network;   the fit server program provides a merchant interface function that enables the merchant to review apparel data, enable entry of merchant data to include merchant name, inventory id, and retail price.   
     
     
         7 . A method for an e-commerce system for wear apparel on a global computer network, comprising the steps of:
 a) having an interface function in a fit system on a global computer network for an apparel designer to transfer and store in a fit server database, for apparel designed by the designer, apparel data via an apparel data form to the fit system;   b) having also an interface function in the fit system for a retail apparel merchant to search for the various apparel therein by designer, brand, gender and apparel id, and have displayed via the apparel data form;   c) enabling by the merchant interface function, (i) selecting of an apparel which the merchant desires to sell on his/her web page and (ii) entering in the apparel data form, additional data of merchant identification and the identification of a merchant web page in the merchant server in which the apparel is to be displayed to the customer;   d) having an embed function in the apparel data form, for activation by the merchant, and transferring the apparel data from the apparel data form and embeds it in the web page under a link try-it-on next to the display of the apparel, wherein the fit system minimizing the resources a retail merchant would require to make available wear apparel for sale on a retail merchant website.   
     
     
         8 . The method of e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 7 , comprising the steps of:
 operating a fit server program in the fit server on the global computer network;   providing by the fit server program a designer interface function that enables an apparel designer to display, enter and save apparel data in an apparel data form.   
     
     
         9 . The method of e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 8 , comprising the steps of:
 having in the apparel data form data that capture details of an apparel with fields of (i) brand name, (ii) gender, (iii) description to include, number of sizes, colors, and fabric (iv) graphical illustrations of the apparel, (v) dimensions for each size that are relevant for fit on a customer, wherein the fields together enable an online a customer to simulate the fit of an article on the customer and enable a purchase decision.   
     
     
         10 . The method of e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 9 , further comprising the step of:
 additionally also including for each dimension of each size, a fit range that enables identification of the apparel for the type of fit intended by the designer.   
     
     
         11 . The method of e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 9 , further comprising the step of:
 coding each dimension of each size, as either a length dimension or a girth dimension.   
     
     
         12 . The method of e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 7 , comprising the steps of:
 operating a fit server program in the fit server on the global computer network;   providing by the fit server program a merchant interface function that enables the merchant to review apparel data, enable entry of merchant data to include merchant name, inventory id, and retail price.   
     
     
         13 . An e-commerce system for wear apparel, comprising:
 an apparel data form for entry of data by an apparel designer in a fit system, on a global computer network, has data that captures details of an apparel with fields of (i) brand name, (ii) gender, (iii) description to include number of sizes, colors, and fabric (iv) graphical illustrations of the apparel, (v) dimensions for each size that are relevant for fit on a customer, wherein the fields together enable an online a customer to simulate the fit of an article on the customer to enable a purchase decision.   
     
     
         14 . The e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 13 , further comprising:
 the apparel data form for each dimension of each size, additionally also include a fit range that enables identification of the apparel for the type of fit intended by the designer.   
     
     
         15 . The e-commerce system for wear apparel, as in  claim 13 , further comprising:
 each dimension of each size is coded as either a length dimension or a girth dimension.
