Water Disposable Head Comprising Plural Water Disposable Materials

Abstract

A head for cleaning a target surface, such as a toilet bowl. The head has a longitudinal axis and comprises a starch based material. The material may be provided as a sheet, and formed to make a generally round head or a head of laminae. The head may optionally contain granules, which optionally define a core and improve the stiffness of the head. The starch based material may be extruded to have a machine direction oriented in the longitudinal direction of the cleaning device.

1 . A water disposable head for a cleaning implement, said head having an outer periphery and comprising:
 a starch material; and   a granular material, juxtaposed with said starch material, each of said starch material and said granular materials being water dispersible and/or water soluble.   
     
     
         2 . A head attachable to a handle and usable for cleaning a toilet, said head comprising:
 a core, said core comprising a granular material, said core having a predetermined shape; and   a shell disposed around said core, said shell comprising a starch material.   
     
     
         3 . A water disposable head for a cleaning implement and being usable to clean a toilet, said head comprising:
 a predetermined quantity of granular material; and   a starch sheet material juxtaposed with said granular material and impregnated with a cleanser.   
     
     
         4 . A head according to  claim 1  having a longitudinal axis, said granular material being generally symmetrically disposed about said longitudinal axis. 
     
     
         5 . A head according to  claim 4  wherein said granular material comprises a generally cylindrical core. 
     
     
         6 . A head according to  claim 5  having a longitudinal axis and a longitudinal dimension coincident therewith from a proximal end to a distal end, and said starch material has a longitudinal dimension and said granular materials has a longitudinal dimension, said longitudinal dimension of said granular material being less than said longitudinal dimension of said starch material whereby said granular material is recessed from said distal end of said head. 
     
     
         7 . A head according to  claim 6  wherein said starch material has a proximal end and a distal end, said proximal end having a proximal end diameter and said distal end having a distal end diameter, said distal end diameter being greater than said proximal end diameter. 
     
     
         8 . A head according to  claim 7  wherein said starch material circumscribes said granular material. 
     
     
         9 . A head according to  claim 2 , wherein said granular material has a predetermined shape and is free of a film overwrap. 
     
     
         10 . A head according to  claim 9  wherein said granular material comprises at least 90 weight percent of said head. 
     
     
         11 . A head according to  claim 10  wherein said core of granular material is generally homogenous throughout. 
     
     
         12 . A head according to  claim 2  wherein said starch material comprises at least one sheet spiral wound about a generally cylindrical core. 
     
     
         13 . A head according to  claim 12  having a longitudinal axis, and wherein said sheet comprises corrugations therein, said corrugations being generally parallel to said longitudinal axis. 
     
     
         14 . A head according to  claim 13  wherein said starch material is impregnated with an additive, said additive being selected from the group consisting of cleanser, perfumes, dyes, disinfectants, enzymes, particulates and coatings. 
     
     
         15 . A head according to  claim 3  wherein said granular material further comprises material selected from the group consisting of surfactants, bleaches, perfumes, effervescents, coatings and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         16 . A head according to  claim 15  wherein said granular material comprises a cylindrical plug and said head further comprising a pouch of liquid cleanser. 
     
     
         17 . A head according to  claim 15  wherein said granular materials comprises plug having a proximal end and a distal end remote therefrom, and said starch material defines a periphery of said head, said distal end of said plug being recessed from said periphery of said head. 
     
     
         18 . A head according to  claim 15  wherein said granular material defines a core circumscribed by said starch material, and said core further comprises a liquid cleanser disposed in a water disposable pouch, said liquid cleanser being juxtaposed with said granular materials. 
     
     
         19 . A head according to  claim 3  wherein said starch material comprises foam. 
     
     
         20 . A head according to  claim 9  wherein said granular material comprises granules disposed within a water disposable film overwrap, forming a predetermined shape.
