Upper and lower body cycling exercise device
Abstract
An exercise device includes a support frame configured to contact a support surface, and a cycler coupled to the frame. The cycler is configured to move with respect to the frame between a first position so as to be engaged by hands of a user of the exercise device, and a second position so as to be engaged by feet of the user. The exerciser also includes a lock configured to lock the cycler relative to the frame in the first and second positions. In an embodiment, the cycler is mounted on a movable frame that moves with respect to the support frame. In an embodiment, the movable frame is pivotally mounted to the support frame, such as to pivot generally parallel to the support frame, or generally across the support frame. In an embodiment, the movable frame is configured to slidably move up and down the support frame.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An exercise device, comprising:
a support frame configured to contact a support surface; a cycler coupled to the frame, the cycler constructed and arranged to be selectively positioned with respect to the frame at a first position so as to be engaged by hands of a user of the exercise device, and a second position so as to be engaged by feet of the user; and a lock configured to lock the cycler relative to the frame in the first position or the second position.
2 . The exercise device of claim 1 , further comprising a movable frame connecting the cycler and the support frame, wherein the movable frame is adjustably mounted to the support frame to move the cycler between the first position and the second position.
3 . The exercise device of claim 2 , wherein the movable frame is configured to pivot with respect to an upper portion of the support frame.
4 . The exercise device of claim 3 , wherein the movable frame is configured to pivot generally parallel to the upper portion of the support frame.
5 . The exercise device of claim 4 , wherein the movable frame is coupled to the upper portion of the support frame by a pivot pin.
6 . The exercise device of claim 3 , wherein the movable frame is configured to pivot across the upper portion of the support frame.
7 . The exercise device of claim 6 , wherein the movable frame is coupled to the upper portion of the support frame by a pivot hinge.
8 . The exercise device of claim 2 , wherein the movable frame is configured to slide with respect to the support frame.
9 . The exercise device of claim 8 , wherein the support frame includes a plurality of incremental lock receivers, such that the lock may secure the movable frame in a plurality of positions on the support frame.
10 . The exercise device of claim 2 , wherein the lock is configured to selectively secure the movable frame to the support frame.
11 . The exercise device of claim 2 , wherein the lock comprises a threaded fastener configured to be received by receivers in the movable frame and the support frame.
12 . The exercise device of claim 1 , further comprising a resistance enhancer that increases an amount of force required to cycle the cycler.
13 . The exercise device of claim 12 , wherein the resistance enhancer is configured to increase friction against the cycler.
14 . The exercise device of claim 1 , further comprising a handlebar configured to be engageable by the hands of the user when the cycler is in the position to be engaged by the feet of the user.
15 . The exercise device of claim 14 , further comprising a movable frame connecting the cycler and the support frame, wherein the movable frame is adjustably mounted to the support frame, and wherein the handlebar and the cycler are distal from each other on the movable frame.
16 . A method of exercising using an exercise device having a support frame configured to contact a support surface and a cycler coupled to the frame, the cycler configured to move with respect to the frame, to alternatively place the cycler in positions to be engaged by hands or feet of a user of the exercise device, the method comprising:
locking the cycler in a position to be engaged by a selected one of the hands or the feet of the user; engaging the cycler by the selected one of the hands or feet, to exercise the selected one of the hands or feet.
17 . An exercise device, comprising:
a support frame, the support frame including ground support members; an exercise assembly coupled to the support frame,
the exercise assembly including a stationary appendage support disposed towards a first portion of the exercise assembly and a cycler disposed towards a second portion of the exercise assembly, the first portion being spaced from the second portion,
the exercise assembly being movable relative to the support frame between a first configuration wherein the stationary appendage support is disposed at a position to be engaged by the hands of a user and the cycler is disposed at a position to be engaged by the feet of the user, and a second configuration wherein the stationary appendage support is disposed at a position to be engaged by the feet of the user and the cycler is positioned to be engaged by the hands of the user; and
a lock configured to selectively lock the exercise assembly in the first configuration or the second configuration.
18 . The exercise device of claim 1 , wherein, with the ground members engaging a ground surface, the stationary appendage support is disposed higher above the ground surface than the cycler when the exercise assembly is in the first configuration, and the cycler is disposed higher above the ground surface than the stationary appendage support when the exercise assembly is in the second configuration.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
