Method for carrying therapeutic substances into cells
Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions containing nanoparticies and uses of said composition for transferring therapeutically active substances into cells by means of specifically coated nanoparticles. The chemical design of the particles is such that a large amount thereof is absorbed into the cells. No direct bond between nanoparticle and the therapeutically active substance is required for the transfer into the cells. Thanks to said transfer, an increased efficacy of the substance and simultaneously reduced systemic toxicity is achieved, i.e. an increase in the efficacy while the side effects are reduced.

A method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug comprising the steps of administering to a patient in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprising magnetic nanoparticles having an affinity to degenerated cells, at least one anti-cancer drug and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient and/or solvent, wherein the magnetic nanoparticles have a positive surface charge, and wherein the magnetic nanoparticles and the at least one anti-cancer drug are administered separately.
16 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 15 for complementing conventional methods for the treatment of cancer.
17 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 15 for carrying anti-cancer drugs into cells.
18 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 15 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is adopted in hypothermia, magnetic fluid hyperthermia, thermotherapy with magnetic fluids, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.
19 . A method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug comprising the steps of administering to a patient suffering from cancer a pharmaceutical composition comprising magnetic nanoparticles having an affinity to degenerated cells, at least one anti-cancer drug and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient and/or solvent, wherein the magnetic nanoparticles have a positive surface charge, and wherein the magnetic nanoparticles and the at least one anti-cancer drug are administered separately.
20 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 19 for complementing conventional methods for the treatment of cancer.
21 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 19 for carrying anti-cancer drugs into cells.
22 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 19 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is adopted in hypothermia, magnetic fluid hyperthermia, thermotherapy with magnetic fluids, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.
23 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 15 , wherein the nanoparticles and the anti-cancer drug are present at the same time in the patient.
24 . The method for increasing the activity of an anti-cancer drug according to claim 19 , wherein the nanoparticles and the anti-cancer drug are present at the same time in the patient.

The method according to claim 15 , wherein the magnetic nanoparticles comprise a coating comprising substances which can be positively polarized and/or positively ionized, wherein the substances which can be positively polarized and/or positive ionized comprise amino groups and/or nitrogen atoms.
26 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein the nanoparticles consist of iron oxide, magnetite, maghemite or M(II)Fe 2 O 4 , wherein M represents Zn, Cu, Co, Ni, Cd, Ba or Mn.
27 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein the at least one cancer drug is a cytostatic, cytostatic agent, antiproliferative agent, antiphlogistic agent, anti-migration agent, antiangiogenic agent, anti-inflammatory agent, antibacterial agent or a microtubule inhibitor.

The method according to claim 15 , wherein the at least one cancer drug is selected from the group comprising: actinomycin D, aminoglutethimide, amsacrine, anastrozole, antagonists of purine and 29 . The method according to claim 15 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is present in a formulation which is suitable for injection or infusion.

The method according to claim 19 , wherein the magnetic nanoparticles comprise a coating comprising substances which can be positively polarized and/or positively ionized, wherein the substances which can be positively polarized and/or positive ionized comprise amino groups and/or nitrogen atoms.
31 . The method according to claim 19 , wherein the nanoparticles consist of iron oxide, magnetite, maghemite or M(II)Fe 2 O 4 , wherein M represents Zn, Cu, Co, Ni, Cd, Ba or Mn.
