Pest-control, compositions, and methods and products utilizing same
Abstract
Pest-combating compositions containing modified volatility pest-control actives are formulated for sustained test-combating efficacy, utilizing oleochemicals subjected to transesterification, methanolysis or conversion of fatty acids to alkyl esters as modified volatility components. In a specific formulation, the pest-combating composition includes soy methyl ester and 2-undecanone. The composition may be constituted as a spray composition, lotion, paste, or other compositional form. Pests that may be usefully combated with such composition include mosquitoes, ticks, cockroaches, thrips, flies, gnats, beetles and aphids.

81 . A method of combating pests at a locus containing or susceptible to the presence of same, said method comprising applying to at least a portion of said locus a pest repellent composition comprising a pest combating effective amount of soy methyl ester and undecanone,
wherein the soy methyl ester is present in the range of approximately 1.6-15 percent by weight of the composition; and wherein the undecanone is present in the range of approximately 8-30 percent by weight of the composition.
82 . The method of claim 81 , wherein the soy methyl ester present in the composition is in the range of approximately 1.6-8 percent by weight.
83 . A method of combating pests at a locus containing or susceptible to the presence of same, said method comprising applying to at least a portion of said locus a pest repellent composition comprising a pest combating effective amount of soy methyl ester and undecanone,
wherein the soy methyl ester present in the composition comprises at least 2.4 percent by weight of the total composition; and wherein the undecanone present in the composition comprises at least 8 percent by weight of the total composition.
