Lid For Containers Such As Cans And The Like

Abstract

A lid for containers, such as cans which have an edge (B) connected to a side flank ( 2 A) of the container ( 2 ). The has a groove ( 10 ) having a “U” section following around the side flank ( 2 A) of the container ( 2 ). A pre-fracture line ( 3 ) is made in a bottom ( 10 A) of the groove ( 10 ). A weakening line is provided in an edge joining an inner wall ( 10 B) of the groove ( 10 ). The groove receives a tool ( 50 ) for at least partially removing the lid from the respective container following breaking of the pre-fracture line ( 3 ) and a consequent oscillation of the inner wall ( 10 B) of the groove inwards around the weakening line ( 4 ). The lid has an anti-fracture line ( 5 ) made on the bottom of the groove ( 10 ), the anti-fracture line ( 5 ) increasing resistance to stresses acting on the bottom ( 10 A).

1 . A lid for a container ( 2 ) having an edge (B) connected to a side flank ( 2 A) of the container ( 2 ), the lid ( 20 ) comprising:
 a groove ( 10 ) having a “U” section following around the side flank ( 2 A) of the container ( 2 );   a pre-fracture line ( 3 ) made in a bottom ( 10 A) of said groove ( 10 ) and a weakening line ( 4 ), provided in an edge joining an inner wall ( 10 B) of said groove ( 10 ), said groove ( 10 ) being adapted to receive a tool ( 50 ) for at least partially removing the lid from the container following breaking of the pre-fracture line ( 3 ) and a consequent oscillation of the inner wall ( 10 B) of the groove inwards around said weakening line ( 4 ), said lid having an anti-fracture line ( 5 ) made on the bottom of said groove ( 10 ), the anti-fracture line ( 5 ) being adapted to increase resistance to stresses acting on the bottom ( 10 A).   
     
     
         2 . The lid according to  claim 1 , wherein the bottom ( 10 A) of said groove has a region (Z) at which the pre-fracture line ( 3 ) is shaped so as not to cause a central portion ( 20 A) of the lid ( 20 ) to be detached from the bottom ( 10 A) when opening said lid. 
     
     
         3 . The lid according to  claim 1 , wherein the bottom ( 10 A) of said groove has a region (Z) which is not provided with said pre-fracture line ( 3 ). 
     
     
         4 . The lid according to  claim 2  wherein said anti-fracture line ( 5 ) is not provided in said region (Z). 
     
     
         5 . The lid according to  claim 2 , wherein an upper surface of the central portion ( 20 A) of the lid ( 20 ) has a notch (T) arranged in an opposite position with respect to the region (Z). 
     
     
         6 . The lid according to  claim 1 , wherein said groove ( 10 ) forms closed ring following a profile of said lid ( 1 ). 
     
     
         7 . The lid according to  claim 1 , wherein said anti-fracture line ( 5 ) is external of the pre-fracture line ( 3 ). 
     
     
         8 . The lid according to  claim 3 , wherein said anti-fracture line ( 5 ) is not provided in said region (Z). 
     
     
         9 . The lid according to  claim 3 , wherein an upper surface of the central portion ( 20 A) of the lid ( 20 ) has a notch (T) arranged in an opposite position with respect to the region (Z). 
     
     
         10 . The lid according to  claim 4 , wherein an upper surface of the central portion ( 20 A) of the lid ( 20 ) has a notch (T) arranged in an opposite position with respect to the region (Z). 
     
     
         11 . The lid according to  claim 2 , wherein said groove ( 10 ) forms a closed ring following a profile of said lid ( 1 ). 
     
     
         12 . The lid according to  claim 3 , wherein said groove ( 10 ) forms a closed ring following a profile of said lid ( 1 ). 
     
     
         13 . The lid according to  claim 2 , wherein said anti-fracture line ( 5 ) is external of the pre-fracture line ( 3 ). 
     
     
         14 . The lid according to  claim 3 , wherein said anti-fracture line ( 5 ) is external of the pre-fracture line ( 3 ). 
     
     
         15 . The lid according to  claim 4 , wherein said anti- fracture line ( 5 ) is external of the pre-fracture line ( 3 ).
