Methods for making slip resistant file folders

Abstract

Methods for producing easily and securely gripped slip-resistant file folders, including file pockets and hanging folders. The methods include providing folder paper stock; conveying the folder paper stock in the process of folder manufacture; providing a curable slip-resistant material in a melt state; applying the slip-resistant material at predetermined areas of the folder paper stock; and curing the slip-resistant material; such that the slip-resistant portion comprises cured slip-resistant material. Another method includes providing folder paper stock; providing embossing dies in spaced, operable, mating relationship; positioning the folder paper stock appropriately in the embossing dies; applying force to at least one of the embossing dies so as to decrease the spaced relationship; and deforming the folder paper stock.

         5 . A method of making a box bottom folder, said folder having a pair of integral support hanging rods, each having a top edge, a front face having a first top edge adjacent said rods, a rear face spaced apart from the from face, a bottom joining said faces, and a pair of side walls joining said faces at their sides; the method comprising extending said side walls from said bottom to a point terminating generally equal in height to the top edge of said rods, so that when said folder is supported by rails which engage said rods, said side walls will not be snagged by said rails when the folder is withdrawn therefrom. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5  further including the step of corrugating said sidewalls. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 5  further including the step of applying a light tack adhesive to at least one face adjacent the rod, thereby providing a gripping surface for user engagement or attachment of notes. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 5  further including the step of applying a light tack adhesive to at least one face adjacent the rod, said application being in the form of a plurality of intersecting wavy lines across said face. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 5  including the step of applying a light tack adhesive to at least one face adjacent the rod adjacent the rod along substantially the entire length of the rod, but only in a narrow portion of the face adjacent the rod, so that when the folder is gripped, said portions are compressed and released from possible adhesive engagement with adjacent folders. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 5  further including the step of applying a light tack adhesive to at least one face adjacent the rod, said application being in the form of a plurality of circular spots across said face. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 5  further including the step of applying a gripping surface across at least one face adjacent the rod, said application being in the form of a pattern which simultaneously provides a gripping surface and allows for presentation of a desired indicia. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 5  further including the step of applying a first gripping surface to at least one face adjacent the rod, and a second gripping surfaces to the other face, said second gripping surface being located on said other face at a position which is vertically offset from the first gripping surface so that the gripping surfaces of adjacent folder will not be contact. 
     
     
         13 . A method of preventing snagging of side walls of a hanging folder for use in a support frame having spaced apart support rails, said rails having upper and lower edges, a folder having two generally spaced apart faces, having upper and lower edges, right and left edges; a support rod affixed to said faces at said upper edges, said bar including hooks configured to ride on said rails; bottom panel joining said faces at said lower edges; and a pair of corrugated side panels extending from said lower edges, joining said left and right edges of adjacent faces; the method comprising, extending the side panels so they terminate at least at the upper edge of the rod, when said pocket is supported by said hooks on said rails. 
     
     
         14 . A hanging folder having an inner material receiving space, for use in a support frame of spaced apart support rails, said rails having upper and lower edges, said folder comprising:
 a.) a pocket having two generally spaced apart faces, having upper and lower edges, right and left edges;   b.) hanging rods affixed to said faces at said upper edges, said rods including hooks configured to ride on said rails;   c.) a bottom panel joining said faces at said lower edges;   d.) a pair of corrugated side panels extending from said lower edges, joining said left and right edges of adjacent faces and terminating at least at the upper edges of said rods, so that when said pocket is supported by said hooks on said rails.   
     
     
         15 . The folder of  claim 14  further including a tacking adhesive applied to said faces immediately adjacent said rod. 
     
     
         16 . The folder of  claim 14  further including a tacking adhesive applied to said faces, on one face, the adhesive is applied adjacent the rod and the other side, the adhesive is applied in a location vertically offset from said the adhesive on the other face so that when folders are placed adjacent each other the adhesive is not in contact. 
     
     
         17 . The folder of  claim 14  further including a tacking adhesive applied to the faces adjacent the rods, said adhesive being applied in the form of a plurality of intersecting wavy lines across said face.
