Abstract

Formed film, apparatus and methods for manufacturing formed film, and articles of manufacture are disclosed. Methods include controlled introduction of melt foldovers through modifying the surface area of a polymer melt curtain. Apparatus for same is also shown as are articles of formed film with melt foldovers.

         17 . An apparatus for formed film comprising:
 a slot die for extruding polymer;   a melt curtain disruption device;   a vacuum source;   a screen; and   whereby said slot die extrudes said polymer, thus forming a melt curtain, said melt curtain disruption device provides controlled turbulence to said melt curtain and said vacuum source and screen aperture said melt curtain, thereby providing an apertured formed film with melt foldovers.   
     
     
         18 . An apparatus as in  claim 17  wherein said melt curtain disruption device comprises a roll. 
     
     
         19 . An apparatus as in  claim 18  wherein said roll comprises a nip roll.
