Rapid saccharide biomarker assay

Abstract

The present invention includes compositions, methods, kits and diagnostics for biosugar profiling of biological samples from a patient suspected of having a disease associated with changes in the biosugar profile. The biosugar profile from the patient sample is compared to a healthy biosugar profile from the same type of biological sample to evaluate disease potential and progression.

1 . A kit comprising:
 a container adapted to stably maintain a biological fluid sample for a biosugar profile determination;   instructions for collection and preservation of the biosugar biological fluid sample; and   wherein the biological sample is collected and screened for its biosugar profile.   
     
     
         2 . The kit of  claim 1 , wherein the biosugar biological fluid sample is exposed to a biosugar marker test strip adapted to visualize the presence or absence of specific individual saccharides, disaccharides or polysaccharides. 
     
     
         3 . The kit of  claim 1 , wherein the biosugar biological fluid sample is exposed to a biosugar marker test strip specific for an auto-inflammatory disease, an auto-immune disease, a metabolic disease, an infectious disease or combinations thereof. 
     
     
         4 . The kit of  claim 1 , wherein the biosugar biological fluid sample is a serum, a blood, a plasma, a urine, a saliva, a peritoneal, a stool, a mucus, a tear, a sweat, a biopsy or a cerebrospinal fluid sample. 
     
     
         5 . The kit of  claim 1 , further comprising a strip that detects the presence or absence of one or more essential saccharides. 
     
     
         6 . The kit of  claim 1 , further comprising a strip that detects the presence or absence of one or more essential saccharides and instructions on formulations that supplement the one or more missing essential saccharides. 
     
     
         7 . A test strip that detects the presence or absence of one or more saccharides. 
     
     
         8 . The test strip of  claim 7 , wherein the test strip detects one or more essential saccharides. 
     
     
         9 . The test strip of  claim 7 , wherein the test strip is disposable. 
     
     
         10 . The test strip of  claim 7 , wherein the test strip is single-use. 
     
     
         11 . The test strip of  claim 7 , wherein the test strip is refurbished for another test. 
     
     
         12 . The test strip of  claim 7 , wherein the test strip comprises an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. 
     
     
         13 . The test strip of  claim 7 , wherein the test strip is a matrix. 
     
     
         14 . The test strip of  claim 7 , wherein the one or more saccharides are selected from galactose, galactosamine, glucosamine, glucose, mannose, acetylated-mannose, N-acetylneuraminic acid, fucose, N-acetylgalactosamine, N-acetylglucosamine and xylose or combinations thereof.
