System and method for accessing and presenting life stories

Abstract

A system to access information about a deceased individual includes a memory device and a mobile unit. The memory device contains a non-volatile computer readable medium to store the information on the deceased individual. The mobile unit interfaces with the memory device to access the information. The memory device may include a memory tube or a microchip. In some versions, the memory device may be mounted to a headstone or associated with the gravesite. The mobile unit may include a viewing screen to display information about the deceased individual via a user interface. In another version, a computer may host the information and an identifier is used by a mobile unit to access the information. The identifier may be associated with a burial site. In some versions, the identifier is an electronic identifier that communicatively couples to the computer.

1 . A system comprising:
 (a) a memory device, the memory device comprising:
 i. a casing, and 
 ii. a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, 
 wherein the memory device is operable to store information about a deceased person on the non-transitory computer readable storage medium; and 
   (b) a mobile unit, wherein the mobile unit is operable to interface with the memory device to access the information about the deceased person when the mobile unit is in proximity to the memory device.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the memory device comprises a memory tube. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the memory device comprises a microchip. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the casing comprises a rugged material. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4  wherein the rugged material comprises stainless steel. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4  wherein the rugged material comprises plastic. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the memory device is mounted to a headstone. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the memory device is associated with a gravesite. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the mobile unit comprises a viewing screen. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 8  wherein the viewing screen is operable to present a user interface, wherein the information about the deceased person is accessible on the mobile unit via the user interface. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the mobile unit electrically couples to the memory device. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 10  wherein the mobile unit physically couples to the memory device. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the mobile unit interfaces with the memory device over a wireless communication link. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the information about the deceased person comprises biographical information. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 1  wherein the information comprises textual and visual media. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 14  wherein information further comprises audio media. 
     
     
         16 . A system comprising:
 (a) a computer, the computer comprising:
 i. a communicative interface, and 
 ii. a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, 
 wherein the non-transitory computer readable storage medium is operable to store information about a deceased person; 
   (b) an identifier, wherein the identifier is associated with a deceased individual and wherein the identifier is operable to allow access to the information about the deceased person; and   (c) a mobile unit, wherein the mobile unit is operable to interface with the identifier to access the information about the deceased person when the mobile unit is in proximity to the identifier via the communicative interface of the computer.   
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 16  wherein the identifier is associated with a burial site. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 16  wherein the mobile unit comprises a viewing screen, wherein the viewing screen is operable to present a user interface, wherein the information about the deceased person is accessible on the mobile unit via the user interface. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 16  wherein the identifier comprises an electronic identifier, wherein the electronic identifier is communicatively coupled to the communicative interface of the computer. 
     
     
         20 . A method of accessing information on a deceased individual from a computer with a mobile device and an identifier, wherein the computer comprises a communicative interface and a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, wherein the non-transitory computer readable storage medium is operable to store information about a deceased person, wherein the identifier is associated with a deceased individual, wherein the identifier is operable to allow access to the information about the deceased person, the method comprising:
 (a) interfacing with the identifier via the mobile device;   (b) communicatively coupling the mobile device to the computer; and   (c) receiving the information about the deceased person at the mobile device.
