Automobile Accessory for Catching Dropped Items

Abstract

An automobile accessory comprising an envelope that fits between the center console of an automobile and either the front driver's seat, or the front passenger's seat, for catching items that would otherwise end up between an automobile seat and the center console or under the seat.

1 . An automobile accessory of dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material for use to catch dropped items, the accessory having:
 a left side, a right side and a base together defining a pouch-shaped interior with a substantially V-shaped vertical cross-section;   the left side and the right side meeting each other in sealing engagement at a distal side and a proximal side;   the left side, right side, distal side and proximal side defining at the top of the accessory an opening having a bowed-out ovate shape of width to fit between an automobile seat and center console,   the accessory being self-expanding and resistant against compression, thereby being adapted to be securely situated at floor level in the space between a seat and center console in an automobile.   
     
     
         2 . The automobile accessory of  claim 1 , having a length of about 11.5 inches. 
     
     
         3 . The automobile accessory of  claim 1 , having a height of about 3 to 5 inches. 
     
     
         4 . The automobile accessory of  claim 3 , having a height of about 3 inches. 
     
     
         5 . The automobile accessory of  claim 3 , having a height of about 5 inches. 
     
     
         6 . The automobile accessory of  claim 1 , further comprising a strip of hook tape adhered to a side thereof, at a position adapted to engage a corresponding portion of carpet or loop tape in an automobile. 
     
     
         7 . The automobile accessory of  claim 1 , further comprising an uppermost section flanging laterally outward from said opening top. 
     
     
         8 . The automobile accessory of  claim 1 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material is plastic. 
     
     
         9 . The automobile accessory of  claim 1 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material is vinyl. 
     
     
         10 . The automobile accessory of  claim 1 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material is rubber. 
     
     
         11 . In combination,
 an automobile seat;   an automobile center console adjacent thereto but spaced apart therefrom and together defining a space therebetween;   an automobile floor under the automobile seat and the center console; and   an automobile accessory of dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material for use to catch dropped items, the accessory having:
 a left side, a right side and a base together defining a pouch-shaped interior with a substantially V-shaped vertical cross-section; 
 the left side and the right side meeting each other in sealing engagement at a distal side and a proximal side; 
 the left side, right side, distal side and proximal side defining at the top of the accessory an opening having a bowed-out ovate shape of width to fit in the space between the automobile seat and the center console, 
   the accessory being self-expanding and resistant against compression, and being removably situated on the automobile floor in the space between the automobile seat and the center console.   
     
     
         12 . The combination of  claim 11 , the automobile accessory having a height of about 3 to 5 inches. 
     
     
         13 . The combination of  claim 11 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material of the automobile accessory is plastic. 
     
     
         14 . The combination of  claim 11 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material of the automobile accessory is vinyl. 
     
     
         15 . The combination of  claim 11 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material of the automobile accessory is rubber. 
     
     
         16 . In an automobile comprising an automobile seat, an automobile center console adjacent thereto but spaced apart therefrom and together defining a space therebetween, and an automobile floor under the automobile seat and the center console:
 an automobile accessory of dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material for use to catch dropped items, the accessory having:   a left side, a right side and a base together defining a pouch-shaped interior with a substantially V-shaped vertical cross-section;   the left side and the right side meeting each other in sealing engagement at a distal side and a proximal side;   the left side, right side, distal side and proximal side defining at the top of the accessory an opening having a bowed-out ovate shape of width to fit in the space between the automobile seat and the center console,   
       the accessory being self-expanding and resistant against compression, and being removably situated on the automobile floor in the space between the automobile seat and the center console. 
     
     
         17 . The automobile of  claim 16 , the automobile accessory having a height of about 3 to 5 inches. 
     
     
         18 . The automobile of  claim 16 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material of the automobile accessory is plastic. 
     
     
         19 . The automobile of  claim 16 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material of the automobile accessory is vinyl. 
     
     
         20 . The automobile of  claim 16 , wherein the dishwasher-safe, resilient, flexible material of the automobile accessory is rubber.
