Abstract

A system, method and apparatus for real time measurement and monitoring of various personal health parameters including controlled delivery of drugs/medications by intelligent pump appliances, intelligent inhalation appliances and intelligent skin patch appliances used in a standalone manner or in a wired or wireless networked configuration, in conjunction with various peripheral devices, other intelligent appliances, servers, RF ID Tags and stationary/mobile devices. The intelligent appliances relate to the measurement, monitoring and delivery of insulin/other drugs for the treatment of diabetes and other diseases. The method also additionally includes the application of intelligent appliances for pain management including visualization of organs and body locations exhibiting pain.

         7 . A mobile device comprising:
 an input/output (I/O) device coupled to a processor;   a medical component coupled to the processor, the medical component dynamically configuring the I/O device as a pain mapping device configured to receive pain data from a user; and,   a touch sensitive display on the medical component, the display being manipulatable by a user experiencing pain where the display is programmed to present planar or three dimensional geometric representations of a body of the user for interaction with the user;   wherein the pain data is representative of pain, wherein the medical component is configured to record and present the pain data associated with anatomical data, wherein the I/O device displays a video or image of an anatomy and the video or image of the anatomy can be annotated with notes regarding pain;   the mobile device configured to communicate a personal health information inquiry to a remote device having a personal health database and to receive and display a response to the inquiry from the remote device in real time.   
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the pain data includes an anatomical location of the pain. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the pain data includes an intensity of the pain. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the pain data includes a duration of the pain. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the pain data includes a pattern of the pain. 
     
     
         12 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the anatomical data includes one or more of body location data, body part data, and organ data. 
     
     
         13 . The device of  claim 12 , wherein the anatomical data includes a model of anatomy. 
     
     
         14 . The device of  claim 12 , wherein the anatomical data includes actual images of anatomy of the user, wherein the actual images are generated by medical imagery equipment. 
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 14 , wherein the processor is configured to retrieve the actual images from a remote device using the I/O device. 
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 14 , comprising a memory device coupled to the processor, the memory device including the actual images. 
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 12 , wherein the anatomical data includes one or more of one-dimensional images, two-dimensional images,-three- dimensional images, and cross-sectional views of anatomy presented on the I/O device. 
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 17 , wherein the I/O device is configured to receive the pain data via contact with the I/O device in an area of the views of the anatomy corresponding to a location of the pain.

The device of  claim 17 , wherein the I/O device is configured to receive user inputs to manipulate an image of the anatomical data, the manipulating including one or more of selecting a portion of the image, generating a cross- sectional view at an area of the image, and rotating the image. 
     
     
         20 . The device of  claim 12 , wherein the anatomical data includes descriptions of anatomy in one or more of tabular format and database format presented on the I/O device. 
     
     
         21 . The device of  claim 20 , wherein the I/O device is configured to receive the pain data via one or more of an entry by the user and a selection made by the user. 
     
     
         22 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the I/O device includes one or more of a keyboard, a touch screen, a card reader, a microphone, a receiver, an input configured to receive biometric data, and a display. 
     
     
         23 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the I/O device is configured to receive data including the anatomical data from a remote device. 
     
     
         24 . The device of  claim 7 , comprising a communication system including a transmitter and a receiver coupled to the processor, wherein the communication system is configured to transfer one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, biological parameters, and health information of the user between a remote device. 
     
     
         25 . The device of  claim 24 , wherein the transmitter includes one or more of a wired and a wireless transmitter, wherein the receiver includes one or more of a wired and a wireless receiver, wherein the communication system communicates using at least one channel.

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the remote device includes one or more of a processor-based device, mobile device, wireless communication device, cellular telephone, Internet Protocol (IP) telephone, WiFi telephone, server, personal digital assistant (PDA), and portable computer (PC).

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the biological parameters include one or more of current and historical biological information of the user comprising one or more of weight, height, age, body mass index, medical analyses results, blood analyses results, heart activity, heart rate, and blood pressure.

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the health information includes one or more of current and historical health information of the user, wherein the health information includes one or more of dietary data, types of food consumed, amounts of food consumed, medications consumed, times of food consumption, physical activity, exercise regimen, work schedule, activity schedule, and sleep schedule. 
     
     
         29 . The device of  claim 24 , comprising an analyzer coupled to the processor, the analyzer configured to generate processed information by analyzing one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, the biological parameters, and the health information of the user. 
     
     
         30 . The device of  claim 29 , wherein the processed information is used for one or more of observation, research study, real time monitoring, periodic monitoring, correlation, diagnosis, treatment, database archival, communication, command and control. 
     
     
         31 . The device of  claim 29 , wherein the analysis includes correlating one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, the health information, and the biological parameters. 
     
     
         32 . The device of  claim 31 , wherein the correlating includes correlating one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, the health information, and the biological parameters with categorical data of the user, wherein the categorical data includes one or more of data of an age category of the user, data of a body type of the user, and parametric data of the user. 
     
     
         33 . The device of  claim 29 , wherein the processor and the remote device are configured to distribute the analyzing of one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, the biological parameters and the health information. 
     
     
         34 . The device of  claim 29 , wherein the I/O device is configured to control display of one or more of a raw version and a processed version of one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, the biological parameters, and the health information of the user.

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the communication system is configured to receive biometric identification information of the user from the remote device, the biometric identification information including one or more of voice signals, photographic data, handwriting data, linger print data, and retinal data. 
     
     
         36 . The device of  claim 24 , wherein the communication system is configured to communicate with a plurality of health management devices. 
     
     
         37 . The device of  claim 24 , wherein the communication system is configured to receive control data from the remote device.

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the communication system is configured to receive identification information of the user from an identification device, wherein the identification device couples to the communication system via one or more of a wireless and a wired coupling. 
     
     
         39 . The device of  claim 38 , wherein the communication system is configured to receive from the identification device one or more of the health information and the biological parameters. 
     
     
         40 . The device of  claim 38 , wherein the communication system is configured to transmit to the identification device one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, the biological parameters, and the health information.

The device of  claim 38 , wherein the identification device includes one or more of an optically readable tag, a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, an identification number, a wrist band, a necklace, a badge, a smart card, a wearable device, and a device implanted in a body of the user.

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the communication system is configured to communicate alert information in response to the pain data, wherein the alert information includes one or more of a message, a visual alert, an audible alert, and a vibratory alert communicated to the user, wherein the alert information includes one or more of voice data, text, graphics data, and multimedia information. 
     
     
         43 . The device of  claim 42 , wherein the alert information includes an electronic signal transmitted to a remote device located one or more of on the user, in a home, in an office, and at a medical treatment facility.

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the communication system is configured to communicate one or more of the biological parameters and the health information to the remote device located one or more of on the user, in a home, in an office, and at a medical treatment facility, the remote device including one or more of a processor-based device, mobile device, wireless device, server, personal digital assistant (PDA), cellular telephone, and portable computer (PC).

The device of  claim 24 , wherein the I/O device comprises an audio receiver for receiving audio data, wherein the audio data received includes one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, a portion of the biological parameters, and a portion of the health information. 
     
     
         46 . The device of  claim 24 , comprising a memory device coupled to the processor, wherein the memory device is configured for storing one or more of the pain data, the anatomical data, a portion of the biological parameters, and a portion of the health information.

The device of  claim 24 , wherein one or more of the communication system and the I/O device support operations as one or more of a processor-based device, mobile device, wireless communication device, cellular telephone, Internet Protocol (IP) telephone, WiFi telephone, server, personal digital assistant (PDA), and portable computer (PC). 
     
     
         48 . The device of  claim 47 , wherein the medical component dynamically configuring the I/O device as a pain mapping device comprises the processor and the medical component configuring the I/O device from a first configuration to a second configuration. 
     
     
         49 . The device of  claim 48 , wherein the dynamically configuring includes one or more of automatic configuring in response to a trigger condition and configuring in response to a user input.

The device of  claim 48 , wherein the second configuration supports operation as the pain mapping device, and the first configuration supports operations as one or more of the mobile device, wireless communication device, cellular telephone, Internet Protocol (IP) telephone, WiFi telephone, server, personal digital assistant (PDA), and portable computer (PC). 
     
     
         51 . The device of  claim 48 , wherein the processor is configured to reconfigure the I/O device from the second configuration to the first configuration. 
     
     
         52 . The device of  claim 51 , wherein the reconfiguring includes one or more of automatic reconfiguring in response to a trigger condition and reconfiguring in response to a user input.

 an input/output (I/O) device coupled to a processor;   a medical component coupled to the processor, the medical component dynamically configuring the I/O device as a pain mapping device, wherein the I/O device is configured to receive data including anatomical data from a remote device, wherein the I/O device is configured to receive pain data from a user;   a touch sensitive display on the medical component, the display being manipulatable by a user experiencing pain where the display is programmed to present planar or three dimensional geometric representations of a body of the user for interaction with the user;   wherein the medical component is configured to record and present the pain data associated with the anatomical data and wherein the I/O device displays a personalized or customized image of an anatomy of the user; and   at least one intelligent skin patch for application on one or more locations of a user's body to provide real time pain management, wherein the skin patch is configured to communicate with the I/O device.   
     
     
         57 . The device of  claim 56 , wherein the I/O device displays a video or series of images of the anatomy of the user. 
     
     
         58 . The device of  claim 56 , wherein the personalized or customized image may be annotated with notes regarding pain. 
     
     
         59 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the I/O device displays a video or series of images of an anatomy and the video or series of images of the anatomy can be annotated with notes regarding pain to show the progression of pain. 
     
     
         60 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the I/O device displays one or more of three-dimensional images, and cross-sectional views of the anatomy presented on the I/O device in a touch screen display format such that a user can locate and select by touch an area of pain. 
     
     
         61 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the I/O device is configured to receive user inputs to manipulate an image of the anatomy, the manipulating including one or more of generating a cross-sectional view at an area of the image, and rotating the image. 
     
     
         62 . The device of  claim 7 , further comprising at least one intelligent skin patch for application on one or more locations of the user's body to provide real time pain management, wherein the skin patch is configured to communicate with the I/O device. 
     
     
         63 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the pain data is received in the form of customized pain icons or customized geometric patterns that describe the specific nature of pain. 
     
     
         64 . The device of  claim 7 , wherein the video or image is of a user's own organ such that the user may create a living visual personal health record. 
     
     
         65 . The device of  claim 56 , wherein the skin patch is controlled with the I/O device.
