Abstract

A knockdown and self-storing gun rest for accommodating a long gun having a pistol grip and a high-capacity magazine. The rest includes a base and a platform. The base is for resting on a support surface. The platform is pivotally mounted to the base, and is so configured so as to allow for accommodating the long gun, the pistol grip of the long gun, and the high-capacity magazine of the long gun.

1 . A knockdown and self-storing gun rest for accommodating a long gun having a pistol grip and a high-capacity magazine, comprising;
 a) a base; and   b) a platform;   wherein said base is for resting on a support surface;   wherein said platform is pivotally mounted to said base; and   wherein said platform is so configured so as to allow for accommodating the long gun, the pistol grip of the long gun, and the high-capacity magazine of the long gun.   
     
     
         2 . The rest of  claim 1 , wherein said base comprises a pair of lower rails. 
     
     
         3 . The rest of  claim 2 , wherein said pair of lower rails of said base extend from front ends thereof, respectively, rearwardly and downwardly to rear legs thereof, respectively. 
     
     
         4 . The rest of  claim 2 , wherein said pair of lower rails of said base are generally parallel to each other;
 wherein said pair of lower rails of said base are spaced-apart from each other; and   wherein said pair of lower rails of said base are generally similar to each other.   
     
     
         5 . The rest of  claim 3 , wherein said rear legs of said pair of lower rails of said base are connected to each other by a base plate. 
     
     
         6 . The rest of  claim 5 , wherein said base plate of said rear legs of said pair of lower rails of said base is elevation-adjustable by a rear knob; and
 wherein said base plate of said rear legs of said pair of lower rails of said base is for resting on the support surface.   
     
     
         7 . The rest of  claim 3 , wherein said base comprises an elevation yoke. 
     
     
         8 . The rest of  claim 7 , wherein said elevation yoke of said base extends fixedly and upwardly from said pair of lower rails of said base, in proximity to said front ends of said pair of lower rails of said base. 
     
     
         9 . The rest of  claim 7 , wherein said elevation yoke of said base comprise a pair of plates;
 wherein said pair of plates of said elevation yoke of said base extend fixedly and upwardly from said pair of lower rails of said base, respectively; and   wherein said pair of plates of said elevation yoke of said base are generally similar to each other.   
     
     
         10 . The rest of  claim 3 , wherein said base comprises front legs. 
     
     
         11 . The rest of  claim 10 , wherein said front legs of said base are a front member;
 wherein said front member of said front legs of said base is generally inverted U-shaped;   wherein said front member of said front legs of said base has terminal ends; and   wherein said terminal ends of said front member of said front legs of said base flare outwardly for resting on the support surface.   
     
     
         12 . The rest of  claim 11 , wherein said terminal ends of said front member of said front legs of said base are elevation-adjustable by elevation jacks, respectively. 
     
     
         13 . The rest of  claim 11 , wherein said front member of said front legs of said base is replaceably attached to said front ends of said pair of lower rails of said base by a pair of front knobs passing through a pair of through bores in said front member of said front legs of said base, respectively, and threadably into said front ends of said pair of lower rails of said base, respectively. 
     
     
         14 . The rest of  claim 9 , wherein said base a pair of elevation stops. 
     
     
         15 . The rest of  claim 14 , wherein said pair of elevation stops of said base extend outwardly from said pair of lower rails of said base, respectively, in proximity to said rear legs of said pair of lower rails of said base. 
     
     
         16 . The rest of  claim 14 , wherein said platform comprises a pair of upper rails. 
     
     
         17 . The rest of  claim 16 , wherein said pair of upper rails of said platform extend from rear ends thereof, respectively, forwardly and upwardly to front ends thereof, respectively;
 wherein said pair of upper rails of said platform are generally parallel to each other;   wherein said pair of upper rails of said platform are spaced-apart from each other for accommodating therebetween the pistol grip of the long gun and the high-capacity magazine of the long gun without any impinging upon pivoting forward and back of said platform to adjust elevation; and   wherein said pair of upper rails of said platform are generally similar to each other.   
     
     
         18 . The rest of  claim 17 , wherein said rear ends of said pair of upper rails of said platform are connected to each other by a rear platform plate; and
 wherein said front ends of said pair of upper rails of said platform are connected to each other by a front platform plate.   
     
     
         19 . The rest of  claim 17 , wherein said pair of upper rails of said platform are pivotally mounted between and to said pair of plates of said elevation yoke of said base, in proximity to said front ends of said pair of upper rails of said platform, so as to allow said platform to pivot forward and back to adjust elevation. 
     
     
         20 . The rest of  claim 18 , wherein said platform comprises a rear yoke cradle. 
     
     
         21 . The rest of  claim 20 , wherein said rear yoke cradle of said platform extends upwardly in bifurcations from said rear platform plate of said pair of upper rails of said platform; and
 wherein said bifurcations of said rear yoke cradle of said platform are for replaceably cradling the stock of the long gun therebetween.   
     
     
         22 . The rest of  claim 20 , wherein said rear yoke cradle of said platform is elevation-adjustable by a shaft-knob assembly. 
     
     
         23 . The rest of  claim 21 , wherein said rear yoke cradle of said platform has a strap. 
     
     
         24 . The rest of  claim 23 , wherein said strap of said rear yoke cradle of said platform extends detachably from one bifurcation of said rear yoke cradle of said platform to the other bifurcation of said rear yoke cradle of said platform; and
 wherein said strap of said rear yoke cradle of said platform is for maintaining the stock of the long gun replaceably in said rear yoke cradle of said platform.   
     
     
         25 . The rest of  claim 16 , wherein said platform comprises a pair of threaded elevation ferrules. 
     
     
         26 . The rest of  claim 25 , wherein said pair of threaded elevation ferrules of said platform extend outwardly from said pair of upper rails of said platform, respectively, over and in alignment with said pair of elevation stops of said base. 
     
     
         27 . The rest of  claim 25 , wherein said platform comprises a pair of elevation adjustment knobs. 
     
     
         28 . The rest of  claim 27 , wherein said pair of elevation adjustment knobs of said platform thread downwardly into said pair of threaded elevation ferrules of said platform, respectively, and abut against said pair of elevation stops of said base, respectively, so as to allow said platform to be angularly adjusted relative to said base by turning said pair of elevation adjustment knobs of said platform, one of clockwise and counterclockwise. 
     
     
         29 . The rest of  claim 18 , wherein said platform comprises a front moldable material resilient bag. 
     
     
         30 . The rest of  claim 29 , wherein said front moldable material resilient bag of said platform sits on said front platform plate of said pair of upper rails of said platform; and
 wherein said front moldable material resilient bag of said platform contains an upper depression for having the forearm of the long gun rest therein.   
     
     
         31 . The rest of  claim 29 , wherein said platform comprises a rear moldable material resilient bag;
 wherein said rear moldable material resilient bag of said platform contains an upper depression; and   wherein said upper depression in said rear moldable material resilient bag of said platform is for having the stock of the long gun rest therein.   
     
     
         32 . The rest of  claim 25 , wherein one upper rail of said platform has a pair of threaded. storing through bores;
 wherein said pair of threaded storing through bores in said one upper rail of said platform pass vertically therethrough; and   wherein said pair of threaded storing through bores in said one upper rail of said platform generally straddle said threaded elevation ferrule of said platform associated with said one upper rail of said platform.   
     
     
         33 . The rest of  claim 31 , wherein said front moldable material resilient bag of said platform is a bag selected from the group consisting of a leather bag filled with a moldable/pliable material and a plastic bag filled with a moldable/pliable material; and
 wherein said rear moldable material resilient bag of said platform is a bag selected from the group consisting of a leather bag filled with a moldable/pliable material and a plastic bag filled with a moldable/pliable material.   
     
     
         34 . The rest of  claim 33 , wherein said moldable/pliable material is sand.
