Abstract

A method for constructing an agent that utilizes an as-needed canonical rule set in a first execution environment comprising requesting the as-needed rule set for the agent, supplying the agent with the as-needed rule set and requesting compilation of the as-needed rule set.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising:
requesting an as-needed canonical rule set based on a goal and an execution environment of an agent; composing the as-needed canonical rule set based on the goal and the execution environment of the agent; requesting construction of the agent that utilizes the as-needed canonical rule set; constructing the agent that utilizes the as-needed canonical rule set; and compiling the as-needed canonical rule set.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising supplying the as-needed rule set during construction of the agent.

3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising supplying a location of a rule repository that can supply the as-needed rule set during construction of the agent.

4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising fetching the as-needed rule set from the rule repository during construction of the agent.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising compiling the as-needed rule set during construction of the agent.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising locating a rule engine during construction of the agent.

7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising supplying the rule engine with the as needed rule set during construction of the agent.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the requesting the as-needed canonical rule set is performed by an application.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the application is in a second execution environment.

10 . A computer readable medium for constructing an agent that utilizes an as-needed canonical rule set in an execution environment, the computer readable medium comprising instructions for:
requesting the as-needed canonical rule set based on a goal and the execution environment of the agent; composing the as-needed canonical rule set based on the goal and the execution environment of the agent; requesting construction of the agent that utilizes the as-needed canonical rule set; constructing the agent that utilizes the as-needed canonical rule set; and compiling the as-needed canonical rule set.

11 . The computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein an application requests the as-needed canonical rule set based on the goal and the execution environment of the agent.

12 . The computer readable medium of claim 10 , wherein a rule repository compose an as-needed canonical rule set based on the goal and the execution environment of the agent.

13 . The computer readable medium of claim 10 , further comprising instructions for supplying the as-needed rule set during construction of the agent.

14 . The computer readable medium of claim 10 , further comprising instructions for supplying a location of a rule repository, that can supply the as-needed rule set, during construction of the agent.

15 . The computer readable medium of claim 14 , further comprising instructions for fetching the as-needed rule set from the rule repository, during construction of the agent.

16 . The computer readable medium of claim 10 , comprising instructions for compiling the as-needed rule set during construction of the agent.

17 . The computer readable medium of claim 10 , further comprising instructions for locating a rule engine during construction of the agent.

18 . The computer readable medium of claim 17 , further comprising instructions for supplying the rule engine with the as needed rule set during construction of the agent.

         19 . A system comprising:
a memory configured to store a memory; and a processor configured to be communicably coupled to the memory, the processor configured to: request an as-needed canonical rule set based on a goal and an execution environment of the agent; compose the as-needed canonical rule set based on the goal and the execution environment of the agent; request construction of the agent that utilizes the as-needed canonical rule set; construct the agent that utilizes the as-needed canonical rule set; and compile the as-needed canonical rule set.

20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the processor is further configured to supply the as-needed rule set during construction of the agent.
