Method and apparatus for improving network resource planning in a wireless communication network
Abstract
Prior to being admitted into the network, a base station establishes a set of operating parameters. Next, a search is performed to determine the presence and configuration of neighboring base stations and current network conditions. Based on the search results, an improved operating configuration is determined for the base station and the base station's operating parameters are adjusted. Once the base station is admitted to and is operating in the network, the base station continues to monitor neighboring base stations and network conditions and adjusts its operating parameters accordingly.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for identifying network nodes and conditions comprising:
establishing a new node in a network;
adopting, by the new node, an initial operating configuration provided by an operation, administration, and management (OAM) system; and
updating the initial operating configuration to a new operating configuration based on the measurements made by other network nodes.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the measurements comprise scanning frequency ranges.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the operation configuration comprises a set of comparison thresholds.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the measurements comprise locating other nodes operating in the network using their beacon channel transmissions.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the other network nodes are neighboring base stations.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the other network nodes are wireless transmit and receive units (WTRUs).
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of reviewing measurements made by other network nodes.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
