Abstract

The present invention relates to a purified antibody that specifically binds an α-synuclein protofibril.

1 . A purified antibody that specifically binds an a-synuclein protofibril. 
     
     
         2 . The antibody according to  claim 1 , wherein said antibody is monoclonal. 
     
     
         3 . The antibody according to  claim 1 , wherein said antibody is humanized. 
     
     
         4 . The antibody according to  claim 1 , wherein said antibody binds a mutant a-synuclein (Ala53Thr and Ala30Pro) protofibril. 
     
     
         5 . A method of preventing or treating an a-synuclein-related disorder, comprising the step of administering, to a patient having or suspected of having an a-synuclein-related disorder, the antibody according to  claim 1 . 
     
     
         6 . The method according to  claim 5 , wherein said alpha-synuclein-related disorder is selected from a group of disorders comprised of Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy Bodies, Lewy neuritis, Alzheimer's disease or Lewy Body Pathology.
