Circumcision clamp and surgical kit

Abstract

A circumcision clamp and surgical kit including a rod having a bell-shaped member at a first end for receiving the head of a penis and an engagement structure at an opposing end; a base including: two arms, the arms include at least three upwardly tapered apertures aligned along an arc and having unequal diameters, wherein each upward taper is complementary to the bell-shaped member, at least three fulcrum recesses aligned along an arc and in radial alignment with the at least three apertures; a lever including: a proximal end in radial alignment with the at least three apertures and the at least three fulcrum recesses, a distal end including a fulcrum foot complementary to the at least three fulcrum recesses and adapted for engagement with the engagement structure of the rod.

1 . A base for use in a circumcision device, the base comprising:
 a) a proximal end having an elongated handle; and   b) a distal end comprising a plurality of selecting positions aligned along an arc defined by a radius extending from the proximal end, wherein each selecting position comprises:
 i) an upwardly tapered aperture of unique diameter, and 
 ii) a fulcrum recess. 
   
     
     
         2 . The base according to  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of selecting positions comprises three selecting positions. 
     
     
         3 . The base according to  claim 2 , wherein the plurality of selecting positions comprises five selecting positions. 
     
     
         4 . The base according to  claim 1 , wherein the fulcrum recess comprises a recessed track that extends along an arc for use with more than one aperture. 
     
     
         5 . A circumcision device comprising:
 a) the base according to  claim 1 ;   b) a rod having a bell shaped member at a first end for receiving the head of a penis and a structure for engagement at an opposing end;   c) a means for raising and lowering the bell shaped member against the tapered aperture and having a fulcrum foot sized for insertion in the fulcrum recess.   
     
     
         6 . The circumcision device according to  claim 5 , wherein the means for raising and lowering the bell shaped member comprises a lever, which comprises:
 a) a proximal end for joining to the proximal end of the base and for radially selecting between each of the plurality of selecting positions; and   b) a distal end comprising the fulcrum foot and adapted for engagement with the rod.   
     
     
         7 . The circumcision device according to  claim 5 , wherein the means for raising and lowering the bell shaped member comprises an actuating structure comprising two elongated members hinged near their midpoints, each of the members having a distal end and a proximal end, the proximal ends of the members together forming a handle, wherein the distal end of one member is the fulcrum foot and the distal end of the second member engages the rod, wherein when the proximal ends of the members are substantially parallel the distal ends are maximally opposed. 
     
     
         8 . A circumcision kit comprising the circumcision device according to  claim 5  and a scalpel. 
     
     
         9 . A method of using a circumcision device comprising:
 a) providing circumcision device according to  claim 5 ;   b) inserting the head of a penis in the bell shaped member and pulling the foreskin over the outside of the bell shaped member;   c) choosing one of the apertures according to desired size; and   d) raising the rod through the chosen aperture to compress the foreskin between the bell shaped member and the tapered aperture thereby permitting the excision of foreskin from above the base.
