Abstract

According to one embodiment, a basic format for a 3D signal having a first area to arrange main video data, a second area to arrange graphic data, a third area to arrange depth information of pixels of the main video data, and a fourth area to arrange depth information of pixels of the graphic data are defined. When depth information of pixels of the main video data is generated, a 3D processing module can select whether to use a first pattern obtained by inserting the graphic data into the main video data and a second pattern obtained by not inserting the graphic data into the main video data. A 3D related controller decides on the first or second pattern to be used by the 3D processing module.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A stereoscopic video signal processing apparatus, wherein a 3D signal format having a first area to arrange main video data, a second area to arrange graphic data, a third area to arrange depth information of pixels of the main video data, and a fourth area to arrange depth information of pixels of the graphic data is defined, comprising:
a 3D processing module configured to make selection of using one of a first pattern obtained by inserting the graphic data into the main video data and a second pattern obtained by not inserting the graphic data into the main video data when depth information of pixels of the first area is generated; and a 3D related controller configured to decide on one of the first and second patterns to be used by the 3D processing module.

2 . The stereoscopic video signal processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the 3D related controller decides on the first or second pattern based on a control signal transmitted together with the main video data or a control signal based on a determination result of determining whether a still image area and a dynamic image area of the main video data are clearly separated.

3 . The stereoscopic video signal processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the 3D related controller decides on the first pattern when a video area of the graphic area is a predetermined percentage or more of the video area of the main video data.

4 . The stereoscopic video signal processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the 3D related controller decides on the first or second pattern based on an operation signal of a remote controller.

5 . A stereoscopic video signal processing method by a 3D signal processing module and a 3D related controller that outputs a control signal thereof, wherein
a 3D signal format having a first area to arrange main video data, a second area to arrange graphic data, a third area to arrange depth information of pixels of the main video data, and a fourth area to arrange depth information of pixels of the graphic data is defined, the 3D signal processing module is configured to make selection of using one of a first pattern obtained by inserting the graphic data into the main video data and a second pattern obtained by not inserting the graphic data into the main video data when depth information of pixels of the first area is generated, and the 3D related controller is configured to decide on one of the first and second patterns based on a control signal specifying processing of the main video data.

6 . The stereoscopic video signal processing method according to claim 5 , wherein the control signal is a signal transmitted together with the main video data or a signal of a determination result of determining whether a still image area and a dynamic image area of the main video data are clearly separated.
