Abstract

An integrated pre-connected apheresis disposable set for separating plasma from blood in a separation vessel and further separating the separated plasma into desired plasma proteins in a plasma separator fluidly connected to the separation vessel to receive the separated plasma.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An integrated pre-connected disposable set for an apheresis system comprising
 a removal/return assembly for removing and returning blood and blood components to a donor; a separation vessel fluidly connected to the removal/return assembly and adapted for mounting on a centrifuge for rotation wherein whole blood is separated in the separation vessel during rotation of the centrifuge into at least plasma and other components; a plasma collect assembly fluidly connected to the separation vessel to receive separated plasma comprising
 a hollow fiber membrane plasma separator for separating the separated plasma into at least a plasma protein fraction;
 a collection container fluidly connected to the hollow fiber membrane plasma separator to receive the plasma protein fraction;
   a plasma return assembly for returning uncollected plasma and any uncollected plasma proteins separated from the collected plasma protein fraction in the hollow fiber membrane plasma separator to the donor; and a fluid flow cassette having internal passageways for fluidly connecting the separation vessel to the hollow fiber membrane plasma separator, for fluidly connecting the removal/return assembly to the separation vessel and for fluidly connecting the plasma return assembly to the removal/return assembly for return of uncollected plasma and any plasma proteins to the donor.

         2 . The disposable set of claim 1 further comprising an anticoagulant tubing assembly interconnected to the fluid flow cassette for providing anticoagulant to the removed blood.

         3 . The disposable set of claim 1 wherein whole blood is separated in the separation vessel during rotation of the centrifuge into at least plasma and red blood cells and further comprising a red blood cell collection assembly inter-connected to the fluid flow cassette assembly.

         4 . The disposable set of claim 1 further comprising a replacement fluid sub-assembly interconnected to the fluid flow cassette.

         5 . The disposable set of claim 1 wherein the fluid flow cassette comprises a blood return reservoir connected to the plasma return assembly.

         6 . The disposable set of claim 5 further comprising a vent bag tubing sub-assembly interconnected to the blood return reservoir for receiving and returning air thereto.
