Inkjet printhead with ink leakage containment walls for nozzle groups

Abstract

An inkjet printhead that has a substrate, a plurality of nozzle assemblies positioned on the substrate, each nozzle assembly having a nozzle opening from which ink is ejected and an actuator for receiving an activation pulse and, containment walls positioned on the substrate for separating the nozzles assemblies into a plurality of groups. Each of the containment walls surrounds a group of nozzle assemblies to restrict ink leaked from one of the groups of nozzle assemblies from contacting another of the groups of nozzle assemblies.

1 . An inkjet printhead comprising:
 a substrate;   a plurality of nozzle assemblies positioned on the substrate, each nozzle assembly having a nozzle opening from which ink is ejected and an actuator for receiving an activation pulse; and   containment walls positioned on the substrate for separating the nozzles assemblies into a plurality of groups, each of the containment walls surrounding a group of nozzle assemblies to restrict ink leaked from one of the groups of nozzle assemblies from contacting another of the groups of nozzle assemblies.   
     
     
         2 . An inkjet printhead as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein each of the containment walls shares a common wall portion with another of the containment walls. 
     
     
         3 . An inkjet printhead as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the nozzle assemblies are arranged in pair such that adjacent pairs of nozzle assemblies are staggered with respect to each other. 
     
     
         4 . An inkjet printhead as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the containment walls are of substantially the same material as the substrate.
