Displaying received message with icon

Abstract

A mobile terminal including a communicating unit, a display unit including an indicator area notifying an alarm when a message is received, and a controller configured to receive a message from at least one other terminal, and display message information on the indicator area of the display unit. Further, the message information including a first image selected according to a type of the received message, and a second image selected according to a type of the attached file.

1 . A mobile terminal, comprising:
 a communicating unit;   a display unit including an indicator area notifying an alarm when a message is received; and   a controller configured to:   receive a message from at least one other terminal, and   display message information on the indicator area of the display unit, said message information including a first image selected according to a type of the received message, and a second image selected according to a type of the attached file.   
     
     
         2 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to display the first image and the second image on the indicator area when the message is received. 
     
     
         3 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the message information overlays on the indicator area. 
     
     
         4 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to display, on the indicator area, sender information including at least one of an e-mail address, a name and a phone number corresponding to said at least one other terminal. 
     
     
         5 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the type of the attached file comprises at least one of an image file type, a video file type, an audio file type and a multimedia file type. 
     
     
         6 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to display the message information in a different color such that each different message information is distinguishable from other message information. 
     
     
         7 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the first image comprises at least one of a camera shape icon, a musical note shape icon and a video shape icon. 
     
     
         8 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to display a combination of message information when the received message includes a combination of different types of attached files. 
     
     
         9 . A method of controlling a mobile terminal, the method comprising:
 displaying, via a display unit of the mobile terminal, an indicator area notifying an alarm when a message is received;   receiving, via a communication unit of the mobile terminal, a message from at least one other terminal; and   displaying, via a controller of the mobile terminal, message information on the indicator area of the display unit, said message information including a first image selected according to a type of the received message, and a second image selected according to a type of the attached file.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 displaying the first image and the second image on the indicator area when the message is received.   
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the message information overlays on the indicator area. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 displaying, on the indicator area, sender information including at least one of an e-mail address, a name and a phone number corresponding to said at least one other terminal.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the type of the attached file comprises at least one of an image file type, a video file type, an audio file type and a multimedia file type. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 displaying the message information in a different color such that each different message information is distinguishable from other message information.   
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the first image comprises at least one of a camera shape icon, a musical note shape icon and a video shape icon. 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising:
 displaying a combination of message information when the received message includes a combination of different types of attached files.
