Candy product and method of making same
Abstract
A body of hard candy is formed on a tubular stem that extends from a reservoir/handle in which an edible fluid is contained. The outer end of the tubular passageway is open. A cover is provided. It has an open end which engages a base wall and holds the cover to the base wall. The cover includes an end wall which includes a plug which enters into the end of the tubular stem when the cover is installed. When the cover is removed, a consumer may lick the candy and may squeeze the reservoir/handle to express edible fluid out from the reservoir/handle, through the passageway and into the consumer's mouth.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of manufacturing a candy product, said method comprising:
providing a holder having a cup-shaped portion and a tubular portion projecting from said cup-shaped portion; inserting a pin into said holder through said cup-shaped portion and said tubular portion to an outer end of said tubular portion opposite said cup-shaped portion; dispensing candy in liquid form into a cavity in a mold, and inserting said tubular portion of said holder with said pin inserted therein into said candy in liquid form in said cavity; allowing said candy to harden in said cavity, thereby surrounding said tubular portion with, and anchoring said tubular portion in, said candy; removing from said mold said tubular portion and said candy thus hardened around said tubular portion; pushing said pin against said outer end to remove any candy covering said outer end; removing said pin from said holder to leave a passageway through said holder; securing said cup-shaped portion of said holder over an open end of a container containing an edible fluid; and with said tubular portion thus secured to said container, enclosing said tubular portion and said hardened candy in a cap containing a plug closure positioned to fit inside and thereby close said outer end of said tubular portion.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein said contained is sized and shaped to be held by hand and to serve as a handle for said candy product.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein said cup-shaped portion has an outer cylindrical surface and said cap has an inner cylindrical surface, said step of enclosing said tubular portion in said cap comprising joining said inner cylindrical surface of said cap to said outer cylindrical surface of said cup-shaped portion.
4 . The method of claim 3 wherein said inner cylindrical surface of said cap and said outer cylindrical surface of said cup-shaped portion are threaded, and said step of enclosing said tubular portion in said cap comprises screwing said cap over said cup-shaped portion.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
