Abstract
A replaceable, wet-set tactile warning surface unit having a body defining an upper surface and a lower surface, the body defining a series of raised projections on its upper surface, and defining a plurality of spaced through-holes from the top to the bottom surface, in which the raised projections are spaced from one another and the through-holes are located between projections. An anchor member such as a threaded insert is coupled to the bottom surface of the unit member directly below each of the through-holes by fasteners such as bolts that pass through the through-holes.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A replaceable, wet-set tactile warning surface unit, comprising: a unitary resinous composite body defining an upper surface and a lower surface, the body comprising a series of raised projections on its upper surface, a plurality of projecting asperities disposed on the upper surface and on the top of the raised projections, and a plurality of spaced through-holes passing through the body; anchor members coupled to the unit below the through-holes by flat-head fasteners, wherein the anchor members have a first portion extending radially outward to a greater extent than a second portion located between the first portion and the lower surface to help embed the anchors in fresh concrete as the concrete sets and wherein the flat-head fasteners pass through the through-holes and lie essentially flush with the upper surface; a flange extending from the lower surface; and an unenclosed vent located underneath the body and extending essentially up to the lower surface that allows air to escape from underneath the unit when it is installed in the fresh concrete and that prevents the body from being permanently embedded in the set concrete.
2 . The replaceable, wet-set tactile warning surface unit of claim 1 , wherein the number of spaced through holes equals the number of anchor members.
3 . A replaceable, wet-set tactile warning surface unit, comprising: a unitary resinous composite body defining an upper surface and a lower surface that are parallel to each other, the body comprising a series of raised projections on its upper surface, a plurality of projecting asperities disposed on the upper surface and on the top of the raised projections, and a plurality of spaced through-holes passing through the body and defining a countersunk flared recess; anchor members coupled to the unit below the through-holes by fasteners having an enlarged flat head, wherein the anchor members have a first portion extending radially outward to a greater extent than a second portion located between the first portion and the lower surface to help embed the anchors in fresh concrete as the concrete sets and wherein the fasteners pass through the through-holes and wherein the enlarged flat head resides within the countersunk flared recess without extending below the lower surface; a flange extending from the lower surface; and an unenclosed vent located underneath the body and extending essentially up to the lower surface that allows air to escape from underneath the unit when it is installed in the fresh concrete and that prevents the body from being permanently embedded in the set concrete.
4 . The replaceable, wet-set tactile warning surface unit of claim 3 , wherein the number of spaced through holes equals the number of anchor members.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
