- 22 . (canceled)

. An estrogen-type organoselective medicament having at most a negligible uterotrophic effect, the medicament comprising an extract from a Cimicifuga species, the medicament adapted for alleviating a post-menopausally occurring urinary bladder infection when administered.

. The medicament of claim 23 wherein the Cimicifuga species is selected from the group consisting of: C. racemosa, C. foetida, C. dahurica, C. heracleifolia, C. simplex, C. japonica, C. europaea, C. acerina, C. elata , and C. rubifolia.

. The medicament of claim 24 wherein the Cimicifuga species is C. racemosa.

. The medicament of claim 23 , wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with an organic solvent.

. The medicament of claim 23 , wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with a mixture of an organic solvent and water.

. The medicament of claim 23 , wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with supercritical CO 2 .

. A method for alleviating a sexual hormone-related post menopausal urinary bladder infection comprising the step of administering an estrogen-type organoselective medicament to alleviate the infection, the medicament comprising an extract from a Cimicifuga species.

. The method of claim 29 , wherein the Cimicifuga species is selected from the group consisting of: C. racemosa, C. foetida, C. dahurica, C heracleifolia, C. simplex, C. japonica, C. europaea, C. acerina, C. elata , and C. rubifolia.

. The method of claim 30 , wherein the Cimicifuga species is C. racemosa.

. The method of claim 29 , wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with an organic solvent, such that the method alleviates the infection.

. The method of claim 29 , wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with a mixture of an organic solvent and water, such that the method alleviates the infection.

. The method of claim 29 , wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with supercritical CO 2 ,such that the method alleviates the infection.
