Hair Fashioning Apparatus and Method of Use Thereof

Abstract

A hair fashioning or styling apparatus covered in velvet or similar material, the apparatus comprising an elongated section that is flexible, but which retains its shape once formed, along with a pillow section that is either removable or integral to the elongated section. The hair fashioning apparatus may include earphones, earplugs, earmuffs or a holder for a media player. The hair fashioning apparatus is utilized to form a “poof” of hair on the top of the head, or, alternatively, pigtails or ponytails.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A hair fashioning apparatus comprising:
 a flexible, elongated member having a first end and a second end;   a coating, wherein said coating radially covers said flexible, elongated member and extends from said first end to said second end; and   a pillow portion disposed between said first end and said second end of said flexible, elongated member.   
     
     
         2 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein said pillow portion is removably secured to said flexible, elongated member. 
     
     
         3 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein said pillow portion comprises a first terminus, a second terminus and elastic loops, and wherein said elastic loops are disposed at said first terminus and said second terminus, and wherein said flexible, elongated member passes inside said elastic loops. 
     
     
         4 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein said pillow portion comprises a covering. 
     
     
         5 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 4 , wherein said covering and said coating comprise velvet. 
     
     
         6 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein said pillow portion comprises a non-separable, integral portion of said flexible, elongated member. 
     
     
         7 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising earplugs secured proximate said first and second ends of said flexible, elongated member. 
     
     
         8 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising earphones secured proximate said first and second ends of said flexible, elongated member. 
     
     
         9 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising earmuffs disposed at said first and second ends of said flexible, elongated member. 
     
     
         10 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising a retention pocket for securing an electronic media player component to said flexible, elongated member. 
     
     
         11 . The hair fashioning apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of hair strands, wherein said hair strands are disposed circumferentially around said flexible, elongated member. 
     
     
         12 . A method of fashioning hair on a person's head into a desired style, said method comprising the steps of:
 obtaining a flexible, elongated member having a first end and a second end, and a coating on said flexible, elongated member, wherein said coating radially covers said flexible, elongated member and extends from said first end to said second end, and a pillow portion disposed between said first end and said second end of said flexible, elongated member, and wherein said pillow portion comprises a covering thereon;   disposing said flexible, elongated member on the hair; and   securing the hair into a selected shape.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein said step of securing further comprises the steps of:
 disposing said flexible, elongated member having said pillow portion thereon in a selected location on the person's head; and   wrapping the hair therewith.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , wherein said step of disposing further comprises the steps of:
 disposing said pillow portion on a top portion of the person's head; and   pulling a portion of the hair from in front of said pillow portion over said pillow portion to form a “poof”.   
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising the step of:
 pulling a portion of the hair upward from a top portion of the person's head and wrapping the hair to form a standing ponytail.   
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising the step of:
 pulling a portion of the hair upward from a rear portion of the person's head and wrapping the hair to form a style selected from the group consisting of pigtails and ponytails.   
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 12 , wherein said step of securing further comprises the steps of:
 wrapping said first end around a first portion of the hair to form a first pigtail; and   wrapping said second end around a second portion of the hair to form a second pigtail.   
     
     
         18 . A hair styling apparatus comprising:
 a flexible, elongated member comprising a plurality of hair strands, wherein said hair strands are disposed radially about said flexible, elongated member, and wherein said flexible, elongated member comprises a velvet coating thereon.   
     
     
         19 . The hair styling apparatus of  claim 18 , further comprising a removably-secured pillow portion disposed between a first end and a second end of said flexible, elongated member, wherein said second end is distally disposed from said first end. 
     
     
         20 . The hair styling apparatus of  claim 18 , further comprising a non-separable, pillow portion formed as an integral portion of said flexible, elongated member.
