Garments for sports throw training

Abstract

Garments for sports throw training are provided. An exemplary garment includes a sleeve of flexible material having an open end and terminate end. The sleeve defines an internal cavity extending between the open and terminate ends. The internal cavity includes a first portion that is generally larger than a second portion of the internal cavity. The sleeve defines an opening at the open end for enclosing portions of the hand, forearm and elbow of the arm. The sleeve defines an enclosure at the terminate end that encloses the second portion of the internal cavity for retaining an object within the internal cavity when the object is released by the hand. A fastener is attached to the sleeve and adapted for compressive attachment of the sleeve to the arm when the arm is positioned within the internal cavity.

What is claimed: 
     
         1 . A garment for sports throw training, the garment comprising:
 a sleeve of flexible material having an open end and terminate end and defining an internal cavity extending between the open and terminate ends, wherein the internal cavity includes a first portion that is generally larger than a second portion of the internal cavity, wherein the first portion is positioned closer to the terminate end than the second portion, wherein the sleeve defines an opening at the open end for slipping the sleeve over and enclosing at least portions of the hand, forearm and elbow of the arm, and wherein the sleeve defines an enclosure at the terminate end that at least substantially encloses the second portion of the internal cavity for retaining an object within the second portion of the internal cavity when the object is released by the hand positioned within the second portion of the internal cavity; and   a fastener attached to the sleeve, adapted to receive and encircle a portion of the arm, and adapted for selective, compressive attachment of the sleeve to the arm when the arm is positioned within the internal cavity.   
     
     
         2 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the open end and the terminate end oppose each other. 
     
     
         3 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve comprises an elastic material. 
     
     
         4 . The garment of  claim 3 , wherein the elastic material comprises spandex. 
     
     
         5 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the terminate end of the sleeve comprises synthetic polymer. 
     
     
         6 . The garment of  claim 5 , wherein the synthetic polymer comprises nylon. 
     
     
         7 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the enclosure of the sleeve entirely encloses the second portion of the internal cavity. 
     
     
         8 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the fastener is made of an elastic material that substantially encircles the portion of the arm and that compressively attaches the sleeve to the arm when the arm is positioned within the internal cavity for substantially preventing slippage of the sleeve on the arm. 
     
     
         9 . The garment of  claim 8 , wherein the fastener is positioned proximate the terminate end of the sleeve for encircling a lower portion of the arm and for compressively attaching the sleeve to the lower portion of the arm. 
     
     
         10 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the fastener is made of a cord that substantially encircles the arm and that compressively attaches the sleeve to the arm when the arm is positioned within the internal cavity. 
     
     
         11 . The garment of  claim 10 , wherein the fastener includes a clamp adapted to fasten ends of the cord together. 
     
     
         12 . The garment of  claim 10 , wherein the fastener is positioned proximate the open end of the sleeve for encircling an upper portion of the arm and for compressively attaching the sleeve to the upper portion of the arm. 
     
     
         13 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the sleeve defines a window proximate the terminate end of the sleeve and through which the first portion of the internal cavity is viewable from a position outside of the internal cavity. 
     
     
         14 . The garment of  claim 13 , further comprising a light-transmissive material attached to the sleeve and positioned to cover the window. 
     
     
         15 . A garment for sports throw training, the garment comprising:
 a sleeve of flexible material having an open end and a terminate end and defining an internal cavity extending between the open and terminate ends, wherein the internal cavity includes a first portion that is generally larger than a second portion of the internal cavity, wherein the first portion is positioned closer to the terminate end than the second portion, wherein the sleeve defines an opening at the open end for slipping the sleeve over and enclosing at least portions of the hand, forearm and elbow of the arm, and wherein the sleeve defines an enclosure at the terminate end that at least substantially encloses the second portion of the internal cavity for retaining an object within the second portion of the internal cavity when the object is released by the hand positioned within the second portion of the internal cavity;   a cord substantially encircling a periphery of the sleeve proximate the open end for encircling an upper portion of the arm when the arm is positioned within the internal cavity;   a clamp adapted to receive and grip ends of the cord for compressively attaching the sleeve to the upper portion of the arm when the arm is positioned within the internal cavity for substantially preventing slippage of the sleeve on the arm; and   an elastic material substantially encircling a lower portion of the arm when the arm is positioned within the internal cavity such that the elastic material compressively attaches the sleeve to the lower portion of the arm for substantially preventing slippage of the sleeve on the arm.   
     
     
         16 . The garment of  claim 15 , wherein the open end and the terminate end oppose each other. 
     
     
         17 . The garment of  claim 15 , wherein the sleeve comprises an elastic material. 
     
     
         18 . The garment of  claim 17 , wherein the elastic material comprises spandex. 
     
     
         19 . The garment of  claim 15 , wherein the terminate end of the sleeve comprises synthetic polymer. 
     
     
         20 . The garment of  claim 15 , wherein the enclosure of the sleeve entirely encloses the second portion of the internal cavity.
