Multifaceted gemstones with connecting link

Abstract

A gemstone and link assembly for forming a piece of jewelry. The gemstone is cut to provide enhanced brilliance and radiance. The gemstone is securely maintained within the link. The link is fabricated of reduced metal thus providing an aesthetically pleasing assembly.

1 . A gemstone having a front and back, the gemstone comprising a lower pavilion and an upper crown, the crown having a top surface and a pair of longitudinally opposed multi-faceted sides that slope downwardly away from said top and towards said pavilion, the top surface of the crown comprising two laterally opposed top surface portions that are separated from one another by a single horizontally directed straight linear peak running in a longitudinal direction between said sides with each top surface portion sloping downwardly in a lateral direction away from said peak and towards said front and back respectively, said pavilion having a bottom surface, said bottom surface having at least one horizontally directed planar bottom portion. 
     
     
         2 . The gemstone of  claim 1 , wherein each top surface portion comprises a central facet and a pair of opposed side facets. 
     
     
         3 . The gemstone of  claim 2 , wherein said side facets are inwardly slanted in a longitudinal direction away from said opposed multi-faceted sides and towards said central facet. 
     
     
         4 . The gemstone of  claim 2 , wherein said central facet is triangularly configured with first, second and third sides and said side facets have a truncated triangular configuration. 
     
     
         5 . The gemstone of  claim 4 , wherein the first sides of each of said triangularly configured central facets are common to one another and thereby define said linear peak. 
     
     
         6 . The gemstone of  claim 4 , wherein the second of said sides of each central facet is common with one of the sides of one of the pair of opposed side facets and the third of said sides of each central facet is common with one of the sides of the other of the pair of opposed side facets. 
     
     
         7 . The gemstone of  claim 1 , wherein said bottom surface being defined by a pair of longitudinally opposed horizontally directed planar bottom portions between which are a pair of intermediate planar bottom portions that are longitudinally slanted upwardly towards one another and which together form an inverted v-shaped configuration.
