Abstract

Methods and system for non-reversible payment processing are described. In one embodiment, a request for non-reversible payment for a sender may be received. The request for non-reversible payment may include a payment amount and a payment receiver identifier. The payment receiver identifier may be associated with a payment receiver. A sender account of the sender may be decreased by the payment amount. A payment receiver account of the payment receiver may be increased by the payment amount. A notification of non-reversible payment may be provided to a payment receiver that the increasing of the payment receiver account by the payment amount is non-reversible based on the receiving of the request for non-reversible payment.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method comprising:
receiving a request for a non-reversible payment that includes a payment amount and a payment receiver identifier identifying a payment receiver, the non-reversible payment being a payment that is not reversible by a payment processor; in response to the receiving of the request for the non-reversible payment, disabling, using at least one processor of a machine, a sender account of a funding source that allows for payment disputes; and receiving, from a sender, a selection of a sender account from one or more available sender accounts resulting from the disabling of the sender account that allows for payment disputes.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
decreasing the selected sender account of the sender by the payment amount; and increasing a payment receiver account of the payment receiver by the payment amount.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
receiving, from the sender, a dispute request associated with the decreasing of the selected sender account; and providing a refusal notification to the sender based on the request for non-reversible payment and the dispute request, the refusal notification indicating that the non-reversible payment cannot be reversed.

4 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
receiving, from the sender, a dispute request associated with the decreasing of the selected sender account; altering value in the selected sender account based on the request for non-reversible payment and the dispute request; and recording a write-off indication based on the request for non-reversible payment and the dispute request.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing a notification of the non-reversible payment to the payment receiver indicating that the received payment amount is non-reversible.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving sender verification information from the sender; accessing sender data associated with the sender; and verifying the sender verification information based on the sender data.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising verifying the payment amount meets an amount criterion.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising verifying whether the request for non-reversible payment satisfies a validity criterion.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
sending a verification message to the sender; and receiving a verification response in response to the sending of the verification message.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising verifying a user association between the sender and the payment receiver.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the user association includes at least one selection from the group consisting of a prior transaction, a communication session, membership in a social network, and a business relationship.

12 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising verifying a user criterion of the sender.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the user criterion includes at least one selection from the group consisting of user feedback, a number of transactions associated with the sender, membership in a social network, and a membership period with a provider.

14 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the decreasing comprises providing a payment transaction request to an automatic clearing house (ACH) to decrease the selected sender account by the payment amount.

15 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising receiving an item receipt notification from the sender that an item associated with the request for non-reversible payment has been received, wherein the increasing of the payment receiver account is based on the receiving of the item receipt notification.

16 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising instructions, which when implemented by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
receiving a request for a non-reversible payment that includes a payment amount and a payment receiver identifier identifying a payment receiver, the non-reversible payment being a payment that is not reversible by a payment processor; in response to the receiving of the request for the non-reversible payment, disabling a sender account of a funding source that allows for payment disputes; and receiving, from a sender, a selection of a sender account from one or more available sender accounts resulting from the disabling of the sender account that allows for payment disputes.

         17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , the operations further comprising:
receiving, from the sender, a dispute request associated with a decreasing of the selected sender account by the payment amount; and providing a refusal notification to the sender based on the request for non-reversible payment and the dispute request, the refusal notification indicating that the non-reversible payment cannot be reversed.

         18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , the operations further comprising:
receiving, from the sender, a dispute request associated with a decreasing of the selected sender account by the payment amount; altering value in the selected sender account based on the non-reversible payment and the dispute request; and recording a write-off indication based on the non-reversible payment and the dispute request.

         19 . A system comprising:
a funding request receiver module configured to receive a request for a non-reversible payment that includes a payment amount and a payment receiver identifier identifying a payment receiver, the non-reversible payment being a payment that is not reversible by a payment processor; a disabler module configured to disable, in response to the received request for non-reversible payment and using at least one processor of a machine, a sender account of a funding source that allows for payment disputes, the disabling of the sender account of the funding source that allows for payment disputes preventing the sender from selecting the sender account of the funding source for the non-reversible payment from which the sender can later dispute; and an account selection receiver module configured to receive a selection of a sender account from one or more available sender accounts resulting from the disabling of the sender account that allows for payment disputes.

20 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a user account module to decrease the selected sender account of the sender by the payment amount and increase a payment receiver account of the payment receiver by the payment amount; and a notification provider module to provide a notification of the non-reversible payment to the payment receiver indicating that the received payment amount is non-reversible.
