Abstract

This document provides to methods and materials related to apoptosis. For example, methods and materials for modulating apoptosis are provided. In addition, methods and materials for treating a mammal having an apoptosis-associated condition are provided.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for treating a mammal in need of reduced TRAIL-induced apoptosis, said method comprising administering to said mammal an effective amount of a substantially pure polypeptide comprising a sequence having at least 80 percent identity to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said mammal is a human.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said polypeptide comprising a sequence having at least 85 percent identity to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said polypeptide comprising a sequence having at least 90 percent identity to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said polypeptide comprising a sequence having at least 95 percent identity to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said polypeptide comprising a sequence having at least 98 percent identity to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said polypeptide comprising a sequence having at least 99 percent identity to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1.

8 . A method for treating a mammal in need of reduced TRAIL-induced apoptosis, said method comprising administering to said mammal an effective amount of a substantially pure polypeptide, wherein said polypeptide is encoded by a nucleic acid that hybridizes, under hybridization conditions, to the sense or antisense strand of a nucleic acid having the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:4.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein said mammal is a human.

10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein said hybridization conditions are moderately stringent hybridization conditions.

11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein said hybridization conditions are highly stringent hybridization conditions.
