Abstract

An armrest for an aircraft seat is disclosed. The armrest includes an arm support portion having a first end and a second end, a first pivot member, the first end of the arm support portion attached to the first pivot member for pivoting the arm support portion about a first axis, and a second pivot member linked to the first pivot member for pivoting the arm support portion about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis such that the arm support portion may be positionally adjusted. A method of construction of an aircraft seat and a seat for use in an aircraft are also disclosed.

An armrest for an aircraft seat comprising an arm support portion having a first end and a second end, a first pivot member, the first end of the arm support portion attached to the first pivot member for pivoting the arm support portion about a first axis, a second pivot member linked to the first pivot member for pivoting the arm support portion about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis such that the arm support portion may be positionally adjusted. 
     
     
         2 . The armrest of  claim 1 , further comprising a telescopic locking cylinder for operably engaging the first pivot member so as to control pivotal movement of the first pivot member. 
     
     
         3 . The armrest of  claim 1 , further comprising a telescopic locking cylinder for operably engaging the second pivot member so as to control pivotal movement of the second pivot member. 
     
     
         4 . The armrest of  claim 1 , wherein the arm support position has a control for facilitating movement of the armrest.
