Abstract
A baby distraction item and more specifically a baby toy for storing baby care items such as baby clean-up items with the baby toy temporarily distracting a baby with the baby top comprising either a cover or a base with a chamber for holding baby care item so that when a caretaker cleans up a baby, the baby may grasp the handle and play with the base or cover as a toy to distract the baby while a diaper is changed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 20 . (canceled)
21 . A baby toy for storing baby care items and for temporarily distracting a baby during a diaper changing event comprising:
a container, said container including an audible distraction item internal to said container; a cover for said container with said container and said cover cooperating to provide a closed chamber therein; a first integral handle sufficiently small so as to be graspable and manipulateable by the baby so that during the diaper changing event the baby may grasp the handle and play with the baby toy to thereby distract the baby during the diaper changing event; a first axially slideable retractable button located beneath said first integral handle; a second integral handle sufficiently small so as to be graspable and manipulateable by the baby so that during the diaper changing event the baby may grasp the handle and play with the baby toy to thereby distract the baby during the diaper changing event; a second axially slideable retractable button located beneath said second integral handle whereby simultaneous displacement of the second retractable button and the first retractable button releases the cover and non simultaneous displacement of the first retractable button and the second retractable button maintains the cover in a latched condition to thereby provide a baby proof cover on said container to maintain the chamber in a closed condition when manipulating the container as a toy; and at least one baby care item located in said chamber.
22 . The baby toy of claim 21 wherein the container has a triangular shape with at least three faces with the first integral handle and the second integral handle each at least partially concealing either the first retractable button or the second retractable button.
23 . The baby toy of claim 21 including:
a first resilient member extending outwardly from said cover with said first resilient member having a lip for engaging the container, said first resilient member concealed from view when in the latched condition;
a second resilient member extending outwardly from said cover with said second resilient member having a lip for engaging the container, said second resilient member concealed from view when in the latched condition.
24 . A baby toy having a compartment therein for a baby care item comprising:
a container cover; a container base having a chamber therein for containing a baby care item; a hinge pivotally securing said container cover to said container base; a first resilient member extending outward from the container cover, said first resilient member having a lip at a proximal end for engaging with an edge on a chamber sidewall to maintain the cover in a closed baby proof condition; a second resilient member spaced from said first resilient member with said second resilient member extending outward from the container cover, said second resilient member having a lip at a proximal end for engaging with the edge on the chamber sidewall to maintain the cover in the closed baby proof condition; a first handle; a second handle; a first retractable button located beneath said first handle, said first retractable button axially slideable but retained within a base of the container for engagement with the first resilient member for release of the lip of the first resilient member from the edge on the chamber sidewall; a second retractable button located beneath said second handle which is spaced from and remote from the first retractable button with the first retractable button axially slideable but retained within the base for engagement with second resilient member for release of the lip of the second resilient member from the edge on the chamber sidewall with said container cover openable with simultaneously engagement of said first retractable button and said second retractable button to thereby provide a baby proof cover; and a baby distraction item comprising either a rattle or a mirror with the mirror located external to said container base so that a baby grasping either the first handle or the second handle can view and entertain itself with the mirror or the rattle or both.
25 . The baby toy of claim 24 wherein the container base is a three sided triangular container base with the first handle attached to one of the three sides of the three sided triangular container base and the second handle attached to the another of the three sides of the three sided triangular container base with the first retractable button located on one side of the three sided triangular container base and the further retractable button located on the another of the three sided triangular container base with the first retractable button at least partially concealed by the first handle and the second retractable button at least partially concealed by the second handle.
26 . The baby toy of claim 24 including a further baby distraction item wherein the baby distraction is the container cover in the shape of an animal toy or a cartoon character.
27 . The baby toy of claim 24 wherein the baby toy is a plush toy with the container cover incorporated as part of the plush toy.
28 . A baby toy for storing baby care items and for temporarily distracting a baby during a diaper changing event comprising:
a container; a cover for said container with said container and said cover cooperating to provide a closed chamber therein; a first handle sufficiently small so as to be graspable and manipulateable by the baby so that during the diaper changing event the baby may grasp the handle and play with the baby toy to thereby distract the baby; a first axially slideable retractable button located beneath said first handle and partially concealed by said first handle; a second handle sufficiently small so as to be graspable and manipulateable by the baby so that during the diaper changing event the baby may grasp the handle and play with the baby toy to thereby distract the baby; a second axially slideable retractable button located beneath said second handle and partially concealed by said second handle whereby simultaneous engagement of the second retractable button and the first retractable button releases the cover and non simultaneous displacement of the first retractable button and the second retractable button maintains the cover in a latched condition to thereby provide a baby proof cover on said container when the baby is manipulating the container as a toy; and at least one baby care item located in said chamber.
29 . The baby toy of claim 28 wherein the baby care item comprises a baby-cleaning item.
30 . The baby toy of claim 29 wherein the baby toy includes either an audible distraction or a visible distraction or both.
31 . The baby toy of claim 30 wherein the baby toy is in the shape of an animal.
