Antifungal and antibacterial peptides, polypeptides and proteins as antifungal additives for paint and other coatings are disclosed, along with antifungal compostions, and coated surfaces with antifungal properties. Methods of using the coatings for treating and/or inhibiting growth of mold, mildew and other fungi and bacteria on objects such as building materials that are susceptible to such infestation are also disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 20 . (canceled)

         21 . A coating composition comprising:
an antifungal peptidic agent of SEQ ID Nos 159-168 or having functionally equivalent amino acid substituted sequences having no more than a +/−2 difference in hydropathic value of the Kyte-Doolittle scale relative thereto comprising 0.0001% to 20.0% by weight of said composition, wherein chiral amino acids of the peptidic agent are L-amino acids, and wherein said coating is a paint.

22 . The coating composition of claim 21 having functionally equivalent amino acid substituted sequences having no more than a +/−1 difference in hydropathic value of the Kyte-Doolittle scale relative thereto.

         23 . A coating composition comprising:
an antifungal peptidic agent of SEQ ID Nos 159-168 or having functionally equivalent amino acid substituted sequences having no more than a +/−2 difference in hydropathic value of the Kyte-Doolittle scale relative thereto, wherein said coating is a paint, said paint comprising at least one component selected from the group consisting of titanium dioxide, Bentonite clay, silicate mineral, and acrylic latex.

24 . The coating composition of claim 23 having functionally equivalent amino acid substituted sequences having no more than a +/−1 difference in hydropathic value of the Kyte-Doolittle scale relative thereto.
