Abstract
An oil-based composition for application to mucosal surfaces of the human body provides potent activators of cytoprotective antioxidants. The composition includes the following ingredients: soy oil; coconut oil; orange oil; peppermint oil; aloe vera oil; vitamin E; and may further include jojoba and a preservative. Application of the composition to mucosal surfaces within the nose increases expression of antioxidant genes and inhibits proinflammatory action caused by exposure to oxidant pollutants, allergens and other cytotoxins.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for mitigating nasal inflammation comprising the steps of:
providing a composition consisting of soy oil, coconut oil, orange oil, peppermint oil and aloe vera oil; applying the composition to mucosal surfaces within the nose; allowing antioxidant genes to undergo increased expression in the nasal cell tissues; and thereby increasing the activity of antioxidant pathways and providing anti-inflammatory protection within the nasal epithelial mucosa.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the composition in the step of providing further comprises jojoba.
3 . A method for mitigating nasal inflammation in response to exposure to pollutants, allergens and other airborne toxins, said method comprising the steps of:
providing a composition comprising a combination of soy oil in an amount of 69.18% by weight of the composition, coconut oil in an amount of 20.0% by weight of the composition, orange oil in an amount of 4.9% by weight of the composition, peppermint oil in an amount of 0.75% by weight of the composition and aloe vera oil in an amount of 4.9% by weight of the composition; applying the composition to mucosal surfaces within the nose; allowing antioxidant genes to undergo increased expression in the nasal cell tissues; and thereby increasing the activity of antioxidant pathways and providing anti-inflammatory protection within the nasal epithelial mucosa.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
