Abstract

Disclosed are methods of making bioactive BMP-2 microparticles and methods of using the microparticles.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A purified microparticle comprising a precipitated bioactive bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2).

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said BMP-2 has an amino acid sequence of a human BMP-2.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said BMP-2 is a recombinantly expressed protein.

. The microparticle of claim 2 , wherein said BMP-2 is a recombinantly expressed protein.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said microparticle has a diameter from about 0.1 μm to about 2000 μm.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said microparticle has a diameter from about 5 μm to about 750 μm.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said microparticle has a diameter from about 15 μm to about 250 μm.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said microparticle has a diameter from about 25 μm to about 50 μm.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said microparticle is provided as a lyophilized formulation.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said microparticle is provided as an aqueous formulation.

. The microparticle of claim 1 , wherein said microparticle is provided in association with a polymeric carrier.

. The microparticle of claim 11 , wherein said polymeric carrier is biodegradable.

. The microparticle of claim 11 , wherein said polymeric carrier is a polylactide, polylactide-co-glycolide, polyanhydride, polyorthoester, polyethylenevinylacetate, or nylon.

. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a precipitated bioactive bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) microparticle and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 14 , further comprising resolubilized BMP-2 protein.

- 35 . (canceled)
